Roddy B for 3 2021 big board

Post#1 » by Roddy B for 3 » Sun Sep 13, 2020 9:14 am

#1. Jonathan Kuminga
He looks like he's be best as a secondary initior to a true PG. If he is allowed to conserve energy for defense and rebounding he will be a big time ceiling raiser with 22+ ppg potential and promise if being a 4th quarter closer if needed.
#2. Cade Cunningham
He looks to me like a lead initior who will raise the floor of his team to yearly playoffs with 2nd round potential. Imo he'll be harder to build around than Kuminga because he plays PG and their are more PG who are close to Cunningham than Forward who can score AND defend like Kuminga. Cunningham seems like a passing and attacking the rim savant. A legit #1 candidate.
#3. Usman Garuba
Draymond Green comparisons make since imo. He'll be a great defender and year in-and-out all defensive team candidate. He already is comfortable and accomplished in this role, so I'm not as worried about ego as I am with many young defensive tools-y guys. Imo he'll be a 15-20ppg with elite defensive. A near perfect modern 4 but I don't see the elite iso scoring potential or he'd be a real candidate for #1.
#4. Jalen Green
Freaky first step and incredible body control when going up with his excellent vertical. Idk if he's as good as he thinks he is. The elite score first wings who are #1 options on title contenders all the way back to, Kwahi/Kobe/Pierce/KD/Wade/Tatum/etc. we're all crazy good fundamentally this is the hardest archetype to build around imo. Any if the listed can anchor a contender, but similarly physically gifted players such as Jason Richardson, Gerald Green, Zach Lavine, Victor Oladipo, Andrew Wiggins, etc. Green seems more Richardson than Kobe to me. Also! Players with that freakish first step tend to suffer injuries that sap athleticism. Green gas struggles going left as is, isn't viewed as a point forward (which shows lack of elite ability there), and is said to have questionable shot selection. Lack of fundamentals will show more once he loses some if that athleticism. He'll be a bucket for sure though. Franchise changing talent but clearly below those above imo.
#5. Scottie Barnes
Not a contender for a #1 pick but even from high school highlights this guy reminds me of Marcus Smart and Rasheed Wallace. I think this guy will get a culture setter (like 'Sheed and Smart) and will out perform his box score through bbiq, tinley decision making, defensive effort and intensity, cummincation and hustle. I think he'll lead by example making his 15-8-3 statlinebon 45/38/83 shooting splits even more impressive. I don't think he'd have a problem being a robin or even a 4th option. If this guy ends up being the fourth best player on a team in his prime that team will be elite (ala Smart/Rasheed). His personality, skill set and physical ability reminds me of the kind of player you can add to your roster to give you a bump to the title, not an obvious Kobe/McGrady/LeBron/Shaq superstar name everyone wants to add but a trade for Rasheed in '04 leads to the title or a hurt Hayward allows Marcus to start and Celtics make the ECF for the third time in his last 5 years with the team.
------
Other notables
^Roko Prkacin - Alot if what I wrote about Barnes applies here, I'd maybe have him over Barnes if I wasn't hedging my bets.
^Jalen Johnson - His physical abilities far out weighs his current basketball abilities imo. We'll see at Duke if he is more Cam Reddish or Jayson Tatum. As of right now, I think he floats threw games more than even Reddish. Still a solid lotto pick imo.
^Greg Brown - I'm not impressed with anything except his potential as a primary rim protector and a dive man, yet.
^Jalen Suggs - he could be incredible value as a late lotto pick and some lucky franchises long-term answer at PG. He reminds me of Kyle Lowry from the little bit I've seen if him.
^Robinson-Earl - Extremely impressive in the little I've seen. Another player the scottie Barnes post can fit to imo. He'd be a candidate for my #3 in 2020 as if right now
^Scottie Lewis - my only college sophomore in this post, he'd be a lock first rounder in 2020 for my big board and he'd be very much in contention for lotto as well. An elite defending wing, but as of now just a one way player.

The top 4 from this draft would all be with Ball and Wiseman as #1 pick contenders in 2020 imo.

Anyone I left out is due to me not knowing there game well enough to post it her, not me dismissing them as elite prospects.

2021 looks to be an elite draft. It's way to early to post this, but this draft could be the best since 2003.
