Top 2025 International Draft Prospects Board

Post#1 » by JazzP » Thu Sep 12, 2024 4:12 pm

I will fully admit that this is not only rough, but an incomplete list.
I haven't even looked at the rosters or anything for plenty of leagues yet, at this stage this is really only a board for some of the primary Europe leagues that typically show out as NBA prospect factories.
There is no Hansen Yang on here (yet!!!), there is no Thierry Darlan or any other BAL standouts (yet!!!!), etc.

I haven't even gotten around to checking into the Turkish or Israeli leagues in detail yet, so this is really a rough draft and I'm not entirely sure it belongs here yet. Right now this is comprised of: the French LNB leagues, the Spanish ACB league, the Adriatic ABA Superleague, the German BBL, the Australian NBL, the Italian Lega A1, the Greek HEBA A1.

That said, preseason is fully underway, rosters are mostly together and there are clues as to what lots of teams' rotations will look like when the season gets going. I was excited for what's ahead, so I wanted to try to start to approximate what the international prospect field might look like.

Here's what I put together so far!

Well a few national and international competitions have started to get underway, we've seen the debuts of some of these teams and even though there isn't much of a sample size of performance, I think a fair amount of the roles that many prospects will be playing for their teams are being established. Certainly, a few teams and leagues have yet to play, so I'm definitely still taking some guesses and probably still missing a few key prospects, but I think this is at least a tiny bit more complete than the first draft.

Some notable prospects that are on this list, who did not receive any playing time in the game(s) their team has played:
Hugo Gonzalez, Dame Sarr, Bassala Bagayoko, Sergio de Larrea, Thijs de Ridder

And here are the prospects who are on this list who's teams have NOT played yet (as far as I am aware), so there is a chance they are in the rotation but I'm pretty much guessing as to whether or not they will be or how impactful they might be:
David Mirkovic, Thierry Darlan, Mouhamed Faye, Hansen Yang, Mario Saint-Supery, Ousmane N'Diaye, Alexandros Samodurov, Luka Bogavac, Musa Sagnia, Hannes Steinbach, Michael Caicedo, Neoklis Avdalas, Rafael Villar, Evangelos Zougris, Lucas Langarita, Ege Demir, Agustin Ubal

But anyways, here's the list as I have it right now:
  1. Ben Saraf, Ratiopharm Ulm: German BBL + Eurocup 2006
  2. Nolan Traore, Saint Quentin: French LNB + BCL 2006
  3. David Mirkovic, SC Derby: Adriatic ABA 2006
  4. Noa Essengue, Ratiopharm Ulm: German BBL + Eurocup 2006
  5. Hugo Gonzalez, Real Madrid: Spanish ACB + Euroleague 2006
  6. Johann Gruenloh, SC Rasta Vechta: German BBL + BCL 2005
  7. Thierry Darlan, Bangui: African BAL 2004
  8. Mouhamed Faye, Reggio Emilia: Italian Lega A + BCL 2005
  9. Lachlan Olbrich, Illawarra: Australian NBL 2003
  10. Zacharie Perrin, Nancy: French LNB 2004
  11. Hansen Yang, Qingdao: Chinese CBA 2005

  60. Dzordzije Jovanovic, Buducnost VOLI: Adriatic ABA + Eurocup 2003

Also, quick shoutout for Maxence Lemoine, an early standout for the 2026 NBA Draft I suppose. I think it's pretty insane that it seems like he already has a real role (albeit a small one) for a LNB Pro A team, to *start* the season, as a 17 year old. And he crushed it in his U-21 league game, I don't think he'll play too many more games at the youth level, but I suppose we'll see.

Thanks for compiling these lists. Sergio De Larrea has been one of the few young Spanish players to actually get consistent playing time in their 1st league. He's doing well for Valencia, currently shooting 40-50% from deep as a 6'6 point guard on very low volume.
I'm not sure if he'll be able to get NBA looks, but he'll definitely be an important piece on Spain's national team, even if he he doesn't improve and just maintains his current level of play.

As for Caicedo, he looks kind of done to me. Had an excellent opportunity with Granada, but turned it down cause of the allure of Barcelona, where, of course, he was the 15th best player on the roster, maybe even 16th if consider the fact that Navarro is still part of the club. He's a decent athlete, but nothing to write home about. However, he hasn't developed other facets of his game. At this point he looks more like a LEB Oro / FEB one guy or someone who will be a journeyman abroad. But even there his lack of shooting and playmaking will hurt him.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.
