First Mock
*heights are barefoot
1. Flagg (George)
- 6'8" two-way wing that should be able to play point forward and defend at an all-defense level. Has a bag but his outside shot is inconsistent due to too many moving parts (shoots a jumper like Ray Allen) imho. Elite BBIQ and natural all-around player.
2. Bailey (Melo)
-6'8" two-way scoring wing that should thrive in the wide open NBA which will allow him to utilize his great athleticism to drive and finish at the rim on closeouts. Can create separation with ease and rise up to shoot over anyone. Could be a plus defender if he wants to be. Likely solid at worse.
3. Harper (Brunson)
-6'3.75" scoring point guard. Savvy and crafty scorer with start/stops and variety of ways to get his shot off. Gets to the FT line at will. Will struggle to emulate college success in the NBA unless he gets in better shape due to lack of elite athleticism.
4. Johnson (Beal)
-6'4" shooting guard. Always ready to shoot and creates separation to get his shot off with ease. Underrated passer and playmaker and has a high motor that helps him on defense though he'll likely never be a great defender.
5. Fears (Isiah)
-6'1.5" point guard. Smooth as silk with a slick handle and quick first step. Very good athlete with high BBIQ. He's a very good defender though he's going to be limited by his size.
6. Demin (Giddey)
-6'7" point guard with elite BBIQ and passing. Struggles with his left hand and is an inconsistent shooter from deep. Will struggle mightily on defense due to lack of lateral athleticism. If he's allowed to run and offense he could be great. If playing off ball he won't be worth taking in the lottery.
7. Traore (Lonzo)
-6'3.5" point guard with deceptive athleticism and a high motor. Shot is a work in progress but he can get to the rim and set up teammates until his shot comes around. Good defender. Great passer and playmaker.
8. Queen (Sengun)
-6'9" PF/C with elite low post moves and adequate defense for his size. Great passer with high BBIQ that makes him a potential high post facilitator with the offense running through him. Might struggle against actual NBA centers and defending athletic 4s. Getting in better shape will help him immensely. Shot has promise and he could take it out to the 3pt line.
9. Jakucionis (Nash)
-6'3.75" point guard with high BBIQ and is a high level passer and initiator. Good rebounder for a guard. Will struggle defensively due to lack of athleticism but should be able to run and NBA offense and improve spacing with his ability to shoot threes.
10. Essengue (Marion)
-6'9" 3 and D wing. Good size, length, athleticism and motor to be an above average defender. One of the youngest players in the draft.
11. Knueppel (Evan Turner)
-6'5" shooting guard with elite BBIQ and NBA body. Natural all-around player with no flaws in his offensive game except he doesn't have great athleticism. He'll struggle against quicker wings/guards on defense but has the motor and effort to keep him on the floor.
12. McNeely (Mullen)
-6'7" small forward sharp-shooter with high BBIQ. Does a little bit of everything. Can be a connective passer and does enough on defense to get by. Not a great athlete.
13. Newell (Bagley Jr.)
-6'9" 4/small ball 5 with high motor, great athleticism and can shoot and run the floor. Switchable on defense and should have 3 stocks a game at the next level.
14. Pate (Amen Thompson)
-6'7" wing with great athleticism. Highly skilled but needs seasoning and to tighten his handle and decision making. Can score on all three levels and has PG potential. High level defender when engaged.
15. Edgecomb (Wade)
-6'3" scoring guard with high motor and elite athleticism. Spark plug that is an opportunistic pest on defense. Badly needs to work on his handle and shot. If he develops he could top 3 talent in this draft.
16. Maluach (Mark Williams)
-7'1" old-school center with great size and elite length with the potential to be a high-end defensive anchor. Almost a zero on offense. Raw project who is probably best served by staying in college for multiple seasons.
17. Freeman (Kuzma)
-6'8.5" tweener 3/4 that has good size, athleticism and defensive versatility. High motor and BBIQ but cannot shoot. If that gets sorted out he's a lottery talent.
18. Thiero (Kuminga)
-6'6" two-way powerful athlete. Older prospect but he's a plug and play guy at the 3 and could go as high as the lottery
19. Ivisic, T. (Vucevic)
-6'11" center that is a lights out shooter and good rebounder with high motor and BBIQ. Lacks great athleticism and will struggle defensively on the perimeter. Not a shot blocker
20. Stojakovic (Stojakovic)
-6'7" wing that can do a little bit of everything. Great off-ball but growing on-ball skillset
21. Jackson (White)
-6'3" combo guard that can defend and finish due to great athleticism and high motor. Playing off-ball due to returners but has some PG skills he hasn't been given a chance to show. Too small to start at the 2. Likely headed towards a 6th man role
22. Riley (LaMelo)
-6'6" scoring guard with some point guard potential. Not a great athlete but has savvy, good length and a high motor. Could fill out and end up being a top 5-10 player from this class.
23. Powell (Finley)
-6'5" shooting guard with scoring potential on all three levels. Long athlete that may remain an enigma due to being inexplicably buried at UNC.
24. Saraf (Manu)
-6'3" point guard with high BBIQ and passing ability. Not a great athlete but should be good enough to stay on the floor and run an NBA offense if he fills out some.
25. Yang (Jokic)
-7' center with Jokic-esque offensive game with the potential to have an offense run through him. A really good shot-blocker due to great NBA size. Not in NBA shape and would get eaten alive defensively on the perimeter. Top 3 talent if he got into shape.
26. Fland (Conley)
-6'1.5" point guard. Very productive all-around and has starting NBA point guard talent. Tries on defense but size limitations are a concern. Could easily end up top 5-10 by draft night.
27. Sorber (Horace Grant)
28. Karaban (Klay)
-6'6" shooting guard with connective passing. Underrated athlete and elite off-ball player that competes on both ends. Really improved over his college career. Could go higher if a team covets instant production ala Knecht
29. Mgbako (Morris)
-6'7" big bodies 3 and D with defensive versatility (3/4). Not going to be a star but def has starter potential
30. Ivisic, Z (Porzingis)
-7'1" 4/5 athlete that can shoot, pass and block shots. Maturity concerns. Talent wise is top 5-10 and could go much higher than this.
