Smills' mock draft

Post#1 » by Smills91 » Thu May 21, 2009 6:45 pm

UPDATE: 5/22

Hey I can do what I want as this is my mock draft:

1) Clippers - Griffin - the D'uh choice
2) Grizzlies - Thabeet - Ricky's words scare them
3) Thunder - Harden - Ditto + Harden is a seemless fit there.
4) Kings - Rubio - Rubio stymied the NBA's damn lottery system.
5) Wizards - Jennings - Agent zero insurance
6) T-Wolves - Tyreke Evans - T-Wolves can't go big so they go for point.
7) Warriors - Hill - Wright hasn't worked out
8) Knicks - Curry - Systems go.
9) Raptors - DeRozan - Steal of the draft
10) Bucks - Ty Lawson - Sessions insurance
11) Nets - Jonny Flynn - PG depth
12) Bobcats - Austin Daye - Brown can mold this guy
13) Pacers - Gerald Henderson - Light on the SG and he's the BPA
14) Suns - Jrue Holiday - Nash insurance
15) Pistons - DeJuan Blair - Size is an issue in Detroit
16) Bulls - Earl Clarke - BPA and the guy that inexplicably drops
17) Sixers - Jeff Teague - Rich man's Louis Williams
18) T-Wolves - BJ Mullens - Wolves go big here
19) Hawks - Eric Maynor - PG is an issue and Maynor looks solid
20) Jazz - Chase Budinger - Replaces Korver
21) Hornets - James Johnson - PF help.
22) Mavericks - Terrence Williams - Perfect fit
23) Kings - Marcus Thornton - BPA and back-up for Martin
24) Blazers - Patrick Mills - Great back-up PG
25) Thunder - Gani Lawal - Go big here
26) Bulls - Wayne Ellington - Gordon insurance
27) Grizzlies - DaJuan Summers - Go big or go home here
28) T-Wolves - Omri Casspi - Stash overseas
29) Lakers - Sam Young - Obviously
30) Cavs - Darren Collison - Eric Snow replacement! ;-)
31) Kings - Tyler Hansbrough - Some front court assistance and a great lockerroom guy.

What about Evans? Or am I just not seeing him?

*He would probably be a better pick than Holiday for the Wolves at 6.

Nice try, but there's no way Rubio falls to #4. Memphis will take him and let him stay in Europe while they put together a trade. Plus, they already have Marc Gasol, who I'd bet $10 on being better then Thabust in the long run.

Also, Warriors take Evans if he's still on the board, perfect fit next to Monta. The only reason we'd want Hill would be to trade him to Memphis for Rubio.

Hey man, this is MY mock. Not yours! ;-) And I'll update it as this goes on, I think I left Evans off in a shuffle between players before I submitted..

I was going to say, I like 10 players in this draft, and somehow the Bucks aren't left with anyone. I'd hope like hell Hill drops to us.

If Holiday actually raises his draft stock through workouts enough to be considered a top 10 pick, then he's easily a better point guard and pick than Evans.

Oh man, I'm sorry. I think Hill's going to be a stiff in the NBA. I think if you guys got Lawson or Flynn(I think he may be the 2nd best PG in this class, maybe not prospect at PG, but actual PG) that you'd do yourselves a major favor there.

I really don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities. Of course, I do think it's more likely that the Grizz and Kings swap picks with the Kings throwing in 3 million cash with a possible addition pick somewhere. This IS Michael Heisley we're talking about here.

OKC will take him at 3 if he is there.

Plus, who gives a poo about the #4 pick? Are the Grizzlies really so pumped to get Jordan Hill or a Harden to backup Mayo?

Memphis is either taking Rubio for themselves (mistake) or trading the pick for a veteran. They've got the free cap space to take on a max player for the pick straight up, so a trade will not be an issue.

30) Cavs - Darren Collison - Eric Snow replacement!

That is your best explanation? Really? Unless Collison can knock down NBA threes at a high rate you can forget about him with Cleveland.

Jonathan Givony seems to agree with me on the top 4!

How often has Jonathan Givony been right on anything as far as drafts goes? He's just another poster with a website.

Smills, I can see the possibility of TheBust at #2. And I know the notSonics think Harden is the real deal. But I also know Presti is shrewd. Even if he had Harden over Rubio on the notSonics' board, he'd know that the Kings would be over the moon about getting Rubio at #4. So I think Presti would try to extract value from the Kings for taking Harden in front of Rubio. Thoughts?
notSonics 2016
Starters - Trey, Roberson, KD, Ibaka, Adams
Rotation - Payne, Waiters, Green, McGary, Kanter
Bench - Collison, Christon, Brodgon, Huestis
Stash - Johnson, Abrine
Cut - Morrow
Trade - Singler
Draft - Brogdon
FA - Green
