Fair play in the playoffs?

I'm in this H2H league with 18 players, and it's the playoffs right now. I'm matched up against this one player who constantly keeps dropping and adding players to his advantage, so that he will always play with a 12 man roster each night. I, other the other hand, don't really use that method because I want to play a fair matchup. There is currently no rules about it in our league that you can't use this method. But, this guy been hammering me the whole week saying how good his roster is, but in reality, I'm actually playing handicapp against him.

Do YOU think that this is ok or is it is being abuse? Sorry for the lame question, this is my first time playing fantasy (I actually went first place at the end of the season

It's distasteful but legal. If you want a fair matchup then make some adds yourself; stay competitive.

If this is a league amongst friends of yours then you might want to discuss making rules to prevent such a thing next year. For this season, though, you can't do much except deal with it.

It's not unfair to do that. If anything it's good strategy if you're on top of things and know who to pick up. Carefully weigh matchups and what teams are resting their starters in favor of young players with potential and pick up a player who will help your team... It makes perfect sense...

It's called streaming and it's exactly why you don't play in a league without a max moves in the playoffs.

I did it myself a couple of weeks in regular season, but I regret I did it.
It ain't fair.
Now people are doing the same in the playoffs against me. I kinda lost game spirit by it. I won't do the same however, cause I don't wanna do it anymore like that.

In the future I will only join leagues with max moves.

If its not in the rules, then do it. Everyone can pull from the same pool of players right? I don't see what the big deal is, especially with an 18 player league, how good could these guys hes picking up actually be?

Exactly. Not illegal by any means if it isnt dealt with before the season starts.

here's an final update of my matchup against him. I lost 7-6, but I could've beaten him if I had gotten two more rebounds. I knew I should've dropped Ronny Brewer earlier. Not bad considering what happened....

it is legal. To counter streaming, you have to play in a competitive league where everyone keeps there roster in shape. This way during the playoffs, streamers will not prosper.

TIP: In the last day of the finals(if you make it), if you are facing a streamer, you have to stream your bench so he doesn't out beat you by a hair on the last day

In the league I comission we have 14 teams and an add/drop cap at 31 moves for the entire season. He's the kicker though. If you have moves remaining at the end of the season (playoffs) you can add/drop as many as you want untill you reach 31. We've been playing like that for the last 5 years and it has worked get for my league and most importantly me. I'm in the finals and I still have 6 moves left while the number one seed who had a way more superior team to mine has none. Therefore, I gain an advantage by perserving my moves through the entire season. For the record, I probably wouldn't have even made the playoffs if I didn't utilize this strategy. I think this is the best way to go about it since everybody is on the same level as far as leveling the playing field goes and you can use the moves to your disgression throughout the season and hope your strategy wins you the title.

You play to win the games. Roster churning is the way you get the most out of your understanding of the league, if all you know about is superstar players and you want to hold on to dead weight (injured players) so be it, but don't get mad at people who study trends, match-ups and underrated players.

Deity Allah is right on, use the rules to form the best strategy. But I'm sure some one will complain if the loose.

The first year I played I was slow to catch on to this; it took me half the championship week to realize you had to do this to keep up. By the second year, I started doing it as soon as the playoffs did. By the third year, I was planning ahead, looking forward to who i could drop and keeping tabs on which players would be useful to keep an eye on for the last few weeks (for instance, I kept Shaq until last week, but then dropped him to shuffle in and out Noah, Wilson Chandler, C Frye, and Varejao. My opponent picked Shaq up, but I got two games by these other guys for every one of Shaq's.)

That said, it's getting a bit tiresome, and I'm going to propose we have some kind of cap on moves for the playoffs next season.

i am about to lose the final to a guy that has made 227 moves during the season and like 30 or so have been this week alone...ive been rolling in 1st,2nd,3rd place all year and this dude was a 6 seed---pretty lame way to win or lose i think
