Kobe's Trade Value

Post#1 » by KevinRiley28 » Sat Oct 25, 2008 10:07 am

I'm in a 20 team league and in the draft, I had the 3rd pick. Lebron and Paul went 1st and 2nd, so I had to decide between Amare and Kobe. I took Kobe.

Now, like I said, this is a 20 team league. It's a very deep league and I think I'd rather have 2 good players on my team than one good player. I'm trying to determine what fair value would be for Kobe Bryant and what kind of trade offers I should make. Keep in mind I'd like to replace Kobe with a scorer who can hit 3s, shoots good from the line, and gets at least a steal per game along with a pf or c who can rebound and block shots.

Some trades I've thought about offering is Kobe + bench player for;

Kevin Martin + Chris Bosh (or Greg Oden)
Al Jefferson + Danny Granger
Joe Johnson (or Allen Iverson) + Lamarcus Aldridge
Andre Iguodala + Al Horford

Are those offers asking for too much or is it fair value? What other types of offers could I make? What type of players have you seen traded for Kobe?

In a 20 team league last year. Had some minor negotiations for Horford and Joe Johnson. The deal happened come Late Feb only because I was hovering outside the playoff bubble and the guy who had Kobe was ranked a few spots below me. At that time, we had to try something new. It took a good amount of negotiating to get him to do the deal. He drapped Reggie Evans for Horford. Horford > Evans, but when people add up stats in a H2H league, they see Kobe + Evans vs the package you offer.

It's not easy making deals IMO in Fantasy. Good luck. I think overall you will not get the value you seek (the packages you listed).

Btw, I offered Gasol and JO for Amare and either E. Gordon or Milsap. I don't care who the scrub is who I get back. I'm in an 18 team league this year, not 20. But I have LBJ on my team. Do you think he accepts?

If not, should I offer Gasol, JO, and Monta for Amare and Bibby? Would anyone do that?

i just traded kobe for baron davis and david west in a 12 team, h2h.....if baron is healthy then i get the better deal.....last year i traded kobe for deron williams and okefor in a league and ended up winning------just find a guy with lakers in his team name and you will get a good deal...throw in some garbage to ease his pain

in h2h i think its better to just pour on the stats as much as possible----the other thing about kobe is he's played 75+ games a year for a while - he's due for a 50 game season

I've been in a 20 team league last year, and its 18 teams this year. The talent level is dilute. We had 9 roster spots last year.

The problem in making any trade, but more-so with a superstar comes as follows IMO:
1. The guy with the best player wants to get back best value. Sorta like trading Kobe last year (Lakers Bulls talk), if you're giving away Kobe you want great value in return. But at the same time, if you're trying to land Kobe, you want a solid team afterward.

2. In H2H leagues, people look may look at it as: Well K. Martin and Bosh give me X Pts, Y Rebs, and Z Asts Combined. I'm getting back Kobe and say Lee who only give me so much. (I didn't work out the #s). Just saying, if your guys stats don't add up as much, some people may not want to do the deal.

I find it difficult to make a deal in a league that is very large. You being in a 20 team league, as mine was last year, and mine almost is this year, makes the talent level very dilute on each team. I first discussed my original Kobe deal in December. 10 Days or so before Xmas. Interest from the guy who had Kobe. But, it didn't happen till late Feb. when his team looked to be falling apart. And that took some thinking, negotiating, and convincing. I know you are on the other side of things, but our deal went as Kobe and Reggie Evans for Joe Johnson and Al Horford.

Good luck with your deal. Even when I made the deal last year, some thought I overpaid, some thought it was Ball-sy, and others thought I won the deal.

Btw, do you think a package for Amare, such as Gasol and JO (what I'm offering) is good enough?

if im moving kobe i want a scoring pg (williams, davis, johnson) and a badass big big (boozer, d12, dirk, gasol)...whatever the case if its h2h im looking to fill as many stats as possible with guys that also score - so the pts dont take a hit - if you have to throw in some confetti (lee) than you do if your getting back two all stars that do different things........kobe's great but i went for baron and david west for him--just crossing my fingers on davis' knees---

O'Neal is gonna have a great year and gasol will have free reign with bynum back ----- might be enough but you dont lose out that mch if you dont get him -- i usually try not to move 2 good biigs or smalls for one unless my team isnt balanced
