Be patient with Alston?

Post#1 » by creative1 » Tue Nov 4, 2008 5:38 am

Alston has started the season off very poorly. I know it usually takes him awhile to get going (and usually an injury to someone else to put up big stats)... but you would also think he'd be getting some nice assist #'s with Ron, Tracy and Yao to pass to. At least hit some damn 3's!!! He's not doing anything right now.

I have him on my team specifically for 3's, assists and steals (pts to some degree). His %'s are some of the worst on my team as well. There are some decent guys like Posey and Rondo (just dropped) that I could take over Alston. I could also drop Thornton...

Thoughts?

I'm just afraid he's going to blow up if I drop him. I don't see why he wouldn't put up the same #'s last year but he's not off to a good start.

age, new focal point on offense, coach pulling him to play youth.
alston resucking shouldnt be that mucha surprise considering how crazy overpeforming the team was last year... lets be honest this years rox arent gonna rattle off 20+ wins in a row, the hyper-scrappiness of carl and the skip in lous step are not trends to bet on.

I don't disagree with you but he's still getting the minutes. Just not playing well at all. I'm considering dropping him for Posey. Posey's 3's will be as good or better than Alston and his steals should be somewhere in the same neighborhood. It hurts to lose Alston's assists but he's not getting them right now anyway.

Now I can't figure out whether to drop Alston or Thornton. I think Thornton has good upside but Alston will probably help me more where I need it (3's, assists, steals).

I'm trying to get Rajon Rondo off the wire... if that happens then I can lose Alston's assists for Posey.

i think thorton has higher potential to "sell high" in a trade than alston whose %'s for a pg are unlivable. Rondo making the team would be key. what's your opinion on Hinrich? I have him, need as many assists and 3s as i can get, but im not sure he's the answer. Price Watson Duhon Ridnour available...
