How do you add an extra team to a keeper league?

Post#1 » by manou » Fri Feb 27, 2009 9:20 am

Guys, I'm managing a competitive keeper league and I need some help for next season.

It's a ROTO yahoo dynasty league.
The rules are simple, each team keeps 3 players:
- 2 players whichever they want
- 1 "protected" player: that one must have been drafted after the 8th round, or was a FA at the beginning of the season.

We are 13, but found a guy who wants to play with us. We are all for it, but how can it be done?

Does he chooses his keepers in all the players we didn't keep (I watched and he could have a combo of Chris Bosh+Josh Smith+Ben Gordon for example, which looks like a strong trio, given our rules) ?
Or is it us who choose his keepers?

How does it work? How would you do it?

Thx!

(FYI, my keepers will be CP3, Durant (or Bosh, not likely) and Boris Diaw (or Ben Gordon)).

Once it's time for the draft, I would do the following:
1) New guy picks two players
2) Rounds 1-8 happen as normal
3) New guy picks an additional player
4) Draft resumes with round 9.

Seems to fit the spirit of the rules of your keeper league.

An expansion draft based on some random generator on an independent website is an option if you want the new GM to have a more equitable shot.

However, since it's a keeper league and he doesn't need to win right off, I think you are better just letting him pick from the leftovers and keeping it simple. You could also set his pick to the 1st pick of the drafting if you wanted.

You definitely want to let him pick in any event. Getting players assigned is always suspicious from the GM's standpoint.
