Did I make the right move?

Post#1 » by Starkiller » Mon Dec 14, 2009 8:53 pm

Here is my team.....

Steve Nash
Monta Ellis
Jamal Crawford
Eric Gordon
Carmelo Anthony
Josh Howard
Irsan Ilyasova
Michael Redd
Derrick Rose
Elton Brand
Chris Kaman
Ben Wallace
Quentin Richardson

I recently made two big trades the first was....

Gerald Wallace & Anthony Marrow for Carmelo Anthony and Irsan Ilyasova

The second was...

Josh Smith and Luol Deng for Monta Ellis and Elton Brand

This is a twelve team league, and I had the last pick, I chose Nash #1. Any ideas on what I can do to help my team out?

First trade you lose.

Second trade is a wash. I am leaning towards you winning though. I like it because you ditch Josh Smith who is a FT% killer.

How do I lose? I felt that I lost a lot of 3's losing Marrow yeah, slightly on the Rebounds w/ Wallace but Melo puts up good board numbers and is the best scorer in the league. Irsan isn't playing bad either. Unless I'm missing something.

Before these two trades, as you could imagine I was struggling for points, my two top scorers were Eric Gordon and Nash, now I have two top 10 scorers to go w/ them.

Lol @ Josh Smith is FT% killer comment.

He has Nash [arguably best] and then Kaman [who is just as bad] and then Ben Wallace.

Not to mention Smith gives you complete line of REB/AST/BLK/STL/PTS/HIGH FG% That's 6 categories compared to the 3 that you take a "hit".

I think you got a great deal in your first trade but lost in the 2nd one. Brand is not meshing with the starting line-up with or without Iverson. Once Speights comes back, I bet his touches decrease even more. And then you have to add Lou Williams into the equation... recipe for disaster.

Ellis is Ellis. He'll get you the complete line but, I'm not sure you needed his PTS and "complete" line when you traded for 'Melo.
Deng is a toss up. He's played fine this year, but fine isn't what we want in fantasy. I think he'll step up big time now that more rumors are stirring up. Illysaova is not so bad either. Him + Melo make up for GWall's production.

But damn, GWALL AND JSmith on same team is insane...

Those trades went to two different teams. I had Gerald and Josh Smith.
