How will they make it for fantasy?

Post#1 » by raptor21_85 » Tue Aug 31, 2010 3:07 am

Guys, we're getting closer to fantasy league drafts. The big question is how will Raptors do in fantasy leagues?
Will Bargs still be an option for 3's, pts, FT %, blocks and rbns?
Will DeMar or Sonny step up?
Will Jose Calderone be overlooked? Is he underrated?

Well, the experts aren't very bullish on our players...

http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/nba/news;_ylt=AknBqYMSC9v3P7s4.de7uAi5bZ8u?slug=ys-expertpoll-pre10-top40

Bargs 12th for C's; Barbosa 29th for PGs & 30th for SGs, otherwise no raptors listed.

So, playing with non-Raptor fans will probably allow for some late round steals on the assumption that DeRozen, Calderon, Kleiza will get starter minutes.

D-Roz will be legit.

Bargs hopefully will step up. Let me ask, If I pick Bargs in the 3rd round, is that too soon??

Linas if he starts will excell. Remember he had a few 40pts games in his career.

Lovin the Raps and I hope I get 2-3 of em

Bargs has actually been a fantasy favorite (at least last season) for most experienced players. The fact that he can give you great free throw percentages for a center, as well as a decent amount of pts and 3s makes him great for fantasy, especially if he can keep up his decent block numbers up. With Bosh out of the fold, his numbers should only get better.

Bargnani should finish very well. Other than that, not so much. Calderon was ranked in the top 25 at the beginning of last season. Doesn't look like he will be getting enough play to get there again, though.

Yeah for Roto Calderon was practically a top 15 player before last year. High assists/low turnovers and elite percentages. He still would be given minutes, but reality is pretty different from fantasy basketball.

I think they have bargs a little low. A lot depends on if his FG% plummets due to increased coverage. 47% isn't great compared to the 50% plus of guys like gasol etc. If he drops to 45 or below that knocks him down. His scoring and 3s is a big deal for a center but his FT% is overatted becuase he hardley shoots any free throws.

Derozan? What exactly does he do for fantasy? He doesn't shoot 3s. He'll likley be a mid teens scorer who doesn't get assits or steals or blcoks.

Haven't even thought about starting any fantasy research....but my gut tells me Bargs is likely a solid 4th rounder... (assuming a normalish sized league and settings)

Bargs is in the top 30, ranked higher than Joe Johnson in some expert mocks. So if you're looking to snag him, he'll go early.

The best value of all of the Raptors is Demar (somehere around pick 135-140) and Linsa Kleiza (185-200)

These guys will likely start and be given the freedom to employ their games. Unless you think Jose or Jack suddenly become fantasy studs, this is how I would lean because both guys are ranked so low and have the great opportunity to shine.

On my team i have jack barbosa and derozan lol try and talk smack and i counter with c paul T evans arenas bogut gasol odom green S jackson and many other studs muaahahahahaha

In all seriousnuss though... Bargs is solid as long as you have other rebounders to make up for him. big factor that is overlooked and why he is so high though... Bargs is an average defensive rebounder, its his offensive boards that makes him look so bad.

Bargs gives you decent FG% great FT% 3PTM points defensive rebounds and blocks

Jack gives you great FG and FT %'s 3's decent PTS/AST and decent rebounder for position. still a gamble since fighting with jose

Derozan is risky as well but i figure with him you get good FG +FT score about 12-14ppg few rebounds. problem is he wont give you many ast stl or blks

Best raptor to target factoring in their rank is klieza easily. he's gonna get the play time. good rebounder at SF and will score. look for him around the 11+ round and if hes there i say bite

So what do you guys expect for Amir? Do you think he'll beat out Davis for the starting PF?
