Help: Creating Keeper/Auction Format and Rules

Post#1 » by sosa » Wed Sep 1, 2010 2:25 pm

Hey Yall..

Wondering if any of you guys have or are participating in a keeper league/auction draft format?

I'm looking to start one for the upcoming NBA season and I need some help creating the rules that will govern the drafts from year to year.

I've read Bill Simmons' article regarding keeper leagues with an auction format and I was wondering if anyone else has. I'm looking to establish rules regarding the number of players kept, salary caps rules, free agents and how to conduct the actual auction draft.

Here are some of my thoughts:

- 3 Keepers per year (12 man team)
- $200 Salary Cap (each keeper gets a $5 raise from last year's draft price)
- Restricted Free Agency Rule (Each team has 1 offer for a restricted free agent. You can make a bid on another team's player but that team has a right to match any offer and keep the player)

Im trying to work on some more rules.

Please let me know if you would like to discuss,

Thanks,
