Need a PG Lawson/ dragic / bynum / bibby

Post#1 » by F1uxCapacit0r » Fri Oct 15, 2010 6:44 pm

I'm looking for my third PG since im lacking assists. my other two PG are J. Jack and J. Kidd

Out of lawson, dragic, bynum, bibby, who will produce the best in which categories. who will get the most playing time etc...

Lawson has the most potential, especially if Denver shakes things up.
Dragic has some potential, but playing time will be questionable.
Bynum is very bleh.
Bibby will gets you a few assists and probably 1.5 3PTM, but Teague will be pushing for playing time.

To be honest if you're in a H2H league I'd just look to trade Kidd and Jack away for a scoring PG eligible player and dump assists, since you'll likely be losing most weeks anyways. Maybe something like Kidd/Jack for Monta Ellis or Tyreke Evans and another scorer.

I think Lawson will get quite a bit of playing time this year. Billups will probably miss some time and/or be rested some throughout the season. Then there is the strong possibility that Melo leaves. And just natural progression, etc.

Lawson will probably get between 26-30 mpg, and I can see his averages being anywhere between 10-14 ppg, and 5-7 apg, on good percentages.

There is just so much upside there, and the "floor" isn't a whole lot lower(if any, in some cases) than what you would expect from the others you mentioned.

I completely agree with these guys! Lawson is the way to go. There's no reason for the Nuggets to keep Chauncey around if Melo goes too. Lawson is less expensive and is capable of handling the starting job. Of all the pg's you mentioned, Lawson has the highest probability of becoming the regular starter by the trade deadline.

The awesome thing about Lawson (besides his asts and stls and low TO's) is his awesome FG%. There are few point guards that shoot over 50%. DRose, CP3, and Nash are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Other lower tiered point guards that might be on the waivers in your league:

Luke Ridnour (until Jonny Flynn comes back)
Roddy Beaubois (if he can come back soon and Dominique Jones doesn't take his spot)
Jarret Jack (might be a timeshare with Jose - but he's been playing well so far in preseason)

the thing is, its not worth trading jack and kidd. i have the best big man passing team where almost everyone gets 2 assists. in which i get about 20 assists from non PG. All the teams in my league have decent PG rotations but **** passers at EVERY other position. I tallied up the averages from last year and i if players stayed the same i would have one of the best passing teams. I just need a third string PG to push me over the edge on assists. right now i have bibby, but the way people are hyping lawson is making me second guess bibby. lawson would sure help with % and such though

Ah, I see, you didn't mention about the other passers.

Bibby will probably be replaced by Teague by December if Teague plays like he did in preseason. He's really over the hill and done. Maybe you could give Teague a look?

sorry about the vagueness. i was thinking since teague plays behind bibby he would get more time than lawson but then i forgot about crawford. how much point does he play for atlanta.

Im trying to offer W. Chandler for calderon but i dont think that manager is feeling it.

I'd hold on to Wilson, he should be better than Calderon, even if you need assists.

I'd expect Crawford to eat away at minutes, but when it's all said and done I'd still expect Teague to be playing 25-ish minutes a game by December.

I'd take Lawson out of the bunch as well.

The only thing is that I don't think any of those free agent options will help you enough in assists. It's probably better to go the trade route.
