2011/2012 best fantasy team?

Post#1 » by F1uxCapacit0r » Wed Sep 7, 2011 2:06 am

it is a 12 team league. standard categories. I ended up with the last pick in the draft. no super stars but went for well rounded team. I am flopping 3ptm but should do ok in that category on some weeks. Brackets are the cats i drafted them for mainly

PG
Westbrook (pts, Ast, stl)
S Nash (Pts, Ast)
J Kidd (ast, stl)
Harris (Pts, Ast)

SG/SF
Derozan (Pts)
Ariza (stl, reb from guard)
G Henderson (drafted purely on potential, last pick in draft)
T Young (reb, stl)

PF/C
Amar'e (pts, Blk)
Noah (reb, blk)
Aldridge (all around)
T. Chandler (Reb, blk)
Dalembert (Reb, blk)

I figure I will have at least 3 PG with double digit assist potential (though nash and kidd are old)

I figure I have 5 guys with double digit rebounding potential.

everyone on team can score double digits with westbrook aldridge amar'e and potentially demar 20+

ariza westbrook and kidd can anchor team in steals with a bunch of bigmen that get a lot of steals.

Aside from nash and kidd being old and somewhat tough to predict production do I have any weakpoints aside from 3ptm which I am flopping anyway>? should I be trying to move anyone?

I wouldn't get too hyped up if I were you. Definitely not the best fantasy team, but you can still finish in the middle of the pack. Your greatest strength should be FT/ast/reb/stl/blk. Aside from the glaring weakness in 3PT, i think you will also struggle to compete in FG/pt. Your team does not have enough big men to offset the poor shooting players (Westbrook,Kidd, and Ariza!!) on your team. Your team also lack scoring power. Yes, you have a few 20+ scorers but you also have a handful of weak scorers (Kidd, Ariza, Chandler, and Dalembert... I can also add Noah to this list if Boozer stays healthy).

What surprised me the most is how you managed to draft LMA Amare and Westbrook with your first 3 picks. Your 3rd pick (36th) was a total steal. I also don't like how your team has more greybeards and IL prones than young talents. Should've taken more risks with your late picks.

8 cat or 9 cat?

Its not a bad team. I do like your big men quite a bit. At the end of the day you do only need to win 5 categories. Most weeks you should win Ast/Reb/Blk/FT (although FTs is just such a dicey category naturally). Steals should be strong as well, although Nash will hurt a bit there (I had him last year and its not fun to have a PG put up less then half a steal a game). I'm not a huge fan of the Kidd pick, I think he falls off quite a bit this year. If his counting stats fall, you're not looking at a pretty player. You haven't left yourself a ton of wiggle room though. If your guys have a bad shooting FT week, or if you run into a good week from Dwight/Love it might be tough to ge a W. Points you should be pretty good but not great. It'll be a swing category for a lot of your match ups imo. I'd try to move Ariza and try to find the steals somewhere else. He's basically a one-category player who kills you in another category since you're tanking 3s.

Pretty good. Definitely not the best but its a solid start. If your smart with your wire pickups you could contend. Amare/Westbrook/LMA/Nash is a very, very nice first four rounds.

I also have a trade in the making that will go through weds so long as the commish isn't active. I guess the guy hates his team because I trade Thad Young and get D. wright. That gives me a nice boost in steals and 3's (but im tanking 3's anyway) as well as a nice scorer. Now I will try to package Kidd and Ariza and It should be smooth sailing.

oh its a 9 cat league with 12 teams

That's a heck of a trade. I might consider putting the veto on that in a league if I were commissioner. It's not a veto lock, but's it's unbalanced enough that I'd consider it.

If you want Stl-Reb from a G eligible player you can get it from Jared Dudley later in most drfats that Ariza is going. Maybe not so much this year, but I'm with Bank Shot, Ariza is a weak fit for your team and you should look for a trade.

I also really like you bigs, and while I do like your PGs you have a lot of risk there, both from age and from injury. If Kidd starts out well you should move him asap and look for Ast elsewhere. Your Gs are nice, but you've gambled a lot on upside, so that may or may not pan out well. I think DeRozan should have a very nice year, but Ariza, Henderson and Young are all question marks.

It's a nice team overall, and if some cards fall your way you could be in tight for the league lead. You'll probably need to make a couple of canny tradez or waiver adds to really lock up a top spot though.

OK i need some help. I figured that I dont need steals as much from ariza because I have westbrook Kidd and D Wright. I dont expect them to single handedly win it for me but I should be a challenge for anyone. So since people said I need more scoring I traded Ariza for Beasley. Am I screwing myself over?

Probably. Beasley is going to lose minutes to DWill this year and probably won't return interst on his current ADP. I think you could have better for Ariza.

Yes, there is a chance that Dwill will take away some mins from Beasley but Beasley's overall production is still better than what Ariza can offer. Ariza hurts you in fg and ft! I had him last yr and by mid season I was willing to let him go for pennies.
