Overstocked at PF/C - Trade Ideas?

Post#1 » by heytherecowboy » Fri Dec 30, 2011 11:15 am

This is my inaugural fantasy basketball season, and my team appears to have no shortage of competent big men. Currently, Pau Gasol, Serge Ibaka, Joakim Noah, J.J. Hickson, and Lamar Odom are all on my roster. Hickson and Odom look to be expendable and carry little value, but between the other three, I'm thinking that I should trade one of them to strengthen other areas of my team. The rest of my roster is:

PG - Russell Westbrook/Kyrie Irving
SG - DeMar DeRozan/Nick Young/Rip Hamilton
SF - Rudy Gay/Wes Matthews

Is there anybody I should try and nab from another team or any specific trade I should propose? Again, this is my first year of fantasy basketball and I'm learning on the fly.

The best thing to do is look to see who needs a big man. Go into each team seperately and see who has the fewest/worst big men. Then make a trade for equal value.

Keep in mind big men are always hard to get so you are in a good position.

I would stay where you are... Like others have said, bigmen are very valuable. There are a lot more valuable big guys this year than previous years, but I'd hold pat. You will most likely suffer an injury somewhere down the line, and if its serious I would use one of your guys to trade for the missing hole. Gay/Matthews/Derozen is a pretty good rotation around SG and SF and I'm assuming Odom can play a little SF as well. If you really want to make a trade, I'd say go for a good PG to match up with Westbrook if you can start 2 of them.

I'm also new to fantasy basketball (or the way ESPN does it) and I also have your exact (so far frustrating) PG rotation + Matthews and Young. I have now realized that I have to few PGs/assists guys. I think a great guy for your team (like for many ;) ) would be Jason Kidd. Gives you assists (none of your SG/SFs do that good), steals (always gold), rebounds (would make up for the loss of a big man), threes (alongside Russell and Kyrie).

He's not having a great season so far, so you may be able to get him at a relatively low price from some other panicking newbies like us :)

Just see if you can give the Kidd owner anything that helps him in a category where he sucks right now + one of your worse big men.

Edit: How about Tyreke Evans as another underperformer that might be cheap to get? Can also play two positions.
