Brook Lopez - Should i use my waiver on him?

Post#1 » by CinceVarter » Sun Jan 1, 2012 9:45 pm

H2H 10 team money league. 13 cats - fgm, fg%, ftm, ft%, 3pm, oreb, reb, ast, a/to, stl, blk, to, pts. my team:

G: Chris Paul, Deron Williams, James Harden, Ricky Rubio, Baron Davis
F: Danilo Gallinari, Greg Monroe, Elton Brand, Tyrus Thomas, Derrick Williams (Streaming) Al Harrington (Streaming)
C: Andrew Bynum, Joakim Noah, Tyson Chandler, Chris Kaman

if i do use my waiver for Lopez, i have to drop one of my C's (four C maximum). so it would be Lopez for Kaman. if i could drop Derrick Williams or Al Harrington, i wouldn't think twice about it. so, is dropping Kaman, along with waiting about 5 weeks for Diddy and Lopez to return, too much of a risk? i'm confident that i have a playoff team even with 2 players out of action for half the fantasy schedule. he's probably the best player that i could have a chance of using my waiver priority on. should i do it? i'm thinking long term here. my only fear is that Kaman produces the numbers that i believe he's capable of if given 30 minutes per. i do think he wins the starting job in NO before long. hmm...

lopez is going to be out until feb (could be wrong?) so it would just be a waste.

hawes was picked up already. it would have been me to grab him, but i got stuck with 4 C's after my draft, and couldn't pick him up unless i dropped Kaman. something i wasn't willing to do (but would give it thought right about now lol) my main goal is to have the strongest team possible heading into fantasy playoffs. i don't mind struggling along the way. also, if anybody is wondering how i have waiver priority when i have CP3, i had 8th pick and traded up for him. so i'm 3rd on the waiver list, however, 2nd on the list is the guy who dropped Lopez, and the person with 1st has 4 C's too. his worst C is Gortat, so i don't think he'll drop him.

It all depends on how strong you think your team is. If you think your good enough to make the playoffs despite holding dead weight for a couple months then go for it.

10 team league... even in H2H I wouldn't even consider using priority on lopez. There'll definitely be available players that can contribute now. Plus theres no guarantee that he'll be good when he starts playing (and he's coming off a down year after all). Considering that there are really few fantasy regular season matchups this year, that month+ that he is going to miss and that he'll likely be subpar once he DOES get back is going to cost you more than it would other years.

Unless you're number 1 in your league with a comfortable league against everyone, I wouldn't consider it...
