Ellis for Bynum

Post#1 » by bhartsell » Mon Jan 16, 2012 5:04 am

A guy is offering me Bynum for Ellis straight up. In my league, Bynum is averaging more points than Ellis, though Ellis' season last year was 1 point better than Bynum's current pace. This trade is pretty easy on the surface, but how worried should I be about Bynum's health?

Depends what your team is although I'd keep Ellis. I have Ellis and is a solid 23/8 with some treys, assists, though he gives a lot of turnovers. You should also see Curry's health. With no Curry, Ellis is going to have to play more. Personally unless you're desperate for a big man, I wouldn't trade.

I'd keep Monta. Bynum is an injury waiting to happen. Plus with the compressed schedule, it could could come sooner than later.

I wouldn't do it. Too much risk.

I actually don't think Bynum is that big of an injury risk. All of his injuries have been fluky, and most importantly he hasn't actually gotten hurt for a while. He didn't get hurt all of last year (he started the year hurt) and improved his body a lot from previous years.

That being said I still wouldn't do the trade. I think Monta has more value and is the safer bet to put up big numbers (I don't like the Kobe chucking spree that's been going on the last few games).

lol poorly worded. Not as big an injury risk as he gets hyped to be is what I meant. He's not a Greg Oden even though a lot of people treat him like it.

in 5 of 6 seasons he's played in 65 games or less.

it's doubtful this, the year with an extremely compressed schedule and a massively increased workload for the young man, will be the exception. just playing the odds. he's also raping you in FT% and TOs (not that ellis isn't)

I agree. It's reasonable to say that he has a better chance of staying healthy than he does getting injured. Past results with injuries are not necessarily indicative of future results unless there's a specific recurring problem.

It's best to assume health than not imo and I believe he will pretty much be healthy the whole year.

This all depends on what you need in the 3's, blocks, and steals departments, though. Don't put much stock into predicting injuries.

normally i agree (im the guy who drafts ak-47 every year) but it's not as if bynum is suddenly playing w/o a knee brace

and the thing is bynum, even if he puts together this year all season, just isn't that valuable. per game he's 42nd on espn's player rater and that doesn't even count his negative effect in TOs. he's a shiny bright object that should be sold high asap on imo
