Hey all, it's my first year of doing fantasy ball so I thought I'd join this forum.
Anyways, I'm currently in a Head-to-Head yahoo league (where each team receives a point/win for the categories that they won) and was wondering precisely how percentages (e.g. FG%, FT%, 3PT%) work.
For example, let's say I have a hypothetical team of two players. If PlayerA were to shoot 4 out of 5 free throws, and PlayerB were to shoot 0 out of 1 free throws, what would be my team's overall FT%?
Would it be .400 or .667?

Is this really a question ?
Ladies and gentlemen the American education system....
Seriously dude did you stop taking math after grade 1? Can you add and/or divide?
If you are over the age of 7 you should be really embarrassed. I mean really. Wow. REALLY?!?!?!?!?!? How are percentages calculated? Hahahahaha. Really?
Player A shoots 5 shots makes 4, Player B shoots 1 shot and misses it. Combined they made 4 out 6 shots.
You do the math.

Thanks for the response.
I do understand that in an actual game with players on the SAME TEAM the answer to the above would be 4/6.
However, the way it could possibly work in fantasy basketball is not immediately obvious, hence my question. It's really just a matter of how the game designers decide to handle it. I wouldn't be surprised if there did exist some other fantasy bball site that actually averages each players averages with equal weighting.

The average of the two players' percentages.
So average of .000 and .800 = .400

4 out of 5 FT's ='s 80%
0 out of 1 FT's ='s 0%

4 out of 6Ft's ='s .667%
4 dived by 6 ='s .667%

Basically it is the "total number of shots made" over "total number of shots taken" by all your players. So I wouldn't worry about calculating it yourself.
However, this could work to your advantage (or disadvantage) with players who take a large volume of FG's or FT's (ie: Durant).
Big men usually have LOW FT% but not ALL of them take a high volume of FTs. So if you have guards that have a high % and take a bunch of FTs per game.. it wouldn't hurt your overall FT% too much.
