Spot Starts
Does anyone know if there is a site that lists which starters will not play on that particular day? Asking because it would be useful to pick up the right players to spot start for that day.

Nope. You gotta do the leg work.
Go to Knickerblogger and look up which teams have the worst defenses (you can check ESPN and see why their D is bad: do they give up a lot of 3s? A lot of FTs? Don't force TOs? Suck at everything?) and, just as important, what pace they play at.
It's not hard work once you get the hang of it and it results in big long-term gains. Good performances from spot starts are fairly predictable.

^agree with all of that, stay away from non-stars on teams with slow pace. i try to keep a few of the more reliable players on my watchlist and spot start them when they have a few favorable matchups (either playing a bad defense or simply have a favorable matchup) but it can be very rewarding.
dont be afraid of players whose names rarely show up in the media, spots starts are more about actual production than buzz or future production. i just got a 10/12/5 blk start from jason maxiell, for instance

Ya, pace is huge. Hence, guys on teams like the Pacers are bad starts (its hurting their starters value as well...only Hill and West haven't been dog crap this year).
Even when drafting pace is big. A lot of experts were dicey on Ryan Anderson this year when they shouldn't have been. Orlando was something like 31st in pace, so even a drop due to no Dwight was likely going to be made up due to the pace increase.
