KEEPER LEAGUE NOOB - NEED ADVICE

Post#1 » by F1uxCapacit0r » Mon Dec 24, 2012 8:24 pm

I have been doing fantasy basketball for years but this is my first season doing a keeper league. there are 12 teams with cats set to FG% FT% 3PTM PTS REB AST STL BLK TO in a head to head league.

my team is

PG
Jack
Lowry
Holiday

SG/SF
J.R. Smith
Kevin Martin
Batum
Lebron
MWP
Parsons

PF/C
J.J. Hickson
B. Lopez
David Lee
Pekovic

Question 1) the league allows draft pick trades (which I have done many). If there are 13 draft picks you can trade but 4 keepers, how do the keepers affect draft picks. Are there actually only 9 rounds instead of 13 next year? do your keepers count as your picks in the 1st 4 rounds?

Question 2) of the players on my team, which 4 are actually worth keeping? So far Lee, Lopez, Lebron, Parsons, Batum, Lowry and Holiday have all been playing well enough to consider.

Question 3) who on my team is expendable and who should I be targetting with them?

I really need the answer to question one because I am commish but do not have the answer

If u are allowed to have 13 players on ur team and 4 keepers that means your draft will have 9 rounds

In regards to your 4 keepers

Lebron
Batum
Lopez
lee
holiday
Lowry

That should be your short list

hmmmm good to know. I appreciate the speedy response. I will now attempt to trade to improve picks 1-9 then.
As of right now the people I will keep for sure are Lebron and Batum since they provide accross the board production. for the other 2 does it make more sense to go Lopez/Lee and have solid reb and blocks or go Lowry/Holiday and just anchor my team on steals and assists. or a PG/BIG combo which wont anchor me but help across the board

I would rather have Pekovic thank Lopez. Pekovic is quickly becoming a beast of a player. I have him and it would take a lot to pry him off me. He is basically a 20/10 player in his last 10.

U have time to declare correct?

See how they play. Lopez scores and Blks
lee Scores, Rebs and assts

holiday and Lowry have mini triple double potential

Keep In mind holiday is like 21 yrs old

I like Pek but he isn't better than David Lee

IMO opinion you should keep: LBJ
Batum
Holiday
David Lee

Lowry and Lopez seem injury prone, pek has high potential and although i have him in my league he is not a shot blocker but provides high FG%,FT%,RB,PT but not many assists so David Lee is better choice than pek for now. Although Lopez provides shot blocking there are around 11 players in the league who avg more than 2 blks and over 30 who avg more than 1. Lee looks set to be with Curry the cornerstone of the franchise so he is good to go for at least 3 years.
A common tip that i hear and use many times is to load up on PG and PF so with 13 players you should have 4PG and 4PF IMO, but then you have LBJ who gives you AST like a PG and Reb like a PF so yeah its up to you but after writing this essay lol i think LBJ,Batum,Holiday are clear-cut picks. For the fourth its up to you.

i'd use holiday as bait to get a stud

A ton of TOs, and you know what? I just don't think he's an elite long-term PG. He's not that explosive. He's not a great shooter. He doesn't get to the line a ton. He just doesn't have any great skill. He's benefitting a lot from dominating the ball on a bad team.

LeBron, Batum

Trade the others to get more clear-cut studs (dependent on how competitive you are this year)
