CDR + Maggette to Bucks

Post#1 » by PerkinsFor3 » Wed Jun 23, 2010 6:49 am

I'm in doubt about the results of this trade for the Bucks, after thinking it through for a while. CDR nor Maggette possesses much of an outside shot. Jennings' shot is still shabby, although he can hit the long ball when he's feeling it. Delfino is rumored to be traded next.

This will result in defenses collapsing on Bogut and daring them to shoot from long range. It will take away some freedom from Bogut UNLESS the Bucks select Patterson: He would be the perfect fit with his range and ability to stretch defenses. I have some trouble envisioning Patterson dropping to #15 though.

Thoughts?

If Udoh falls to them, it woud be perfect. They are probably looking for someone who can play 4/5.

Fantasy wise; I think Maggette takes over Salmons' role and IMO his stats will be pretty solid. CDR will be probably utilized as a scoring 6th man off the bench. I can see them using this rotation:

Jennings/Ridnour
Delfino/CDR
Maggette/Moute
Ersan/pick 15/Moute
Bogut/pick 15/pick 15

Putting Ersan at 4 will probably ease that potential outside shooting problem.

Maggette's value just went down.

The value I fear most for here, is Bogut. Unless the Bucks find a way to stretch defences, Bogut's room to operate in the post will be affected a lot by adding two slashers to the rotation.

I think Bogut's value is going to be dictated by his recovery much more than by Maggette. Maggette probably won't even play 25 of the games.

edit: I'm trying to say he will miss 25. not that he won't even play 25.

CDR plays well off his bigs though so I don't see him cramping Bogut's style... The thing is I don't know if he's matured enough to stay out of Skiles' doghouse. He quit on NJ and his great stretch of 20+ pt performances came at a time when:

1. He was forcefed minutes because everyone on the Nets were hurt
2. The Nets were busy losing 18 games in a row

I think that Maggette on the other hand should have decent value pretty much the same as what he had as when he was on the Clippers. Just be wary of his ability to stay healthy...

Delfino is the guy I would jump on (assuming Salmons is gone).

Bucks are so deep. You never know with Skiles.

BJ/Salmons/Delfino/Ersan/Bogut started games down the stretch for them and looked good together.

Now they've added Gooden/Maggette/CDR and you have to factor LRMAM and possibly Sanders into the mix too.

My money is CDR will be left out of the rotation and Sanders will spend some time in D-League.

BJ/Salmons/Delfino/Ersan/Bogut
Dooling(back up pg)/Maggette(back up sg/sf)/Moute(back up sf/pf)/Gooden (back up pf/c)

That's a nice 9 man rotation.

bj, mags, bogut.. those may be the only guys worth owning on the bucks this year. delfino or ersan may emerge with some value but hard to say right now

Salmons should have some decent value. More so than Maggette I'd think.

Eh as far as Jennings goes, I wouldn't draft him too high he's a FG% killer and I don't expect that to change this season.
