The second season of the (nine GM) keeper league some friends and I created will commence soon. It's on Yahoo. We wish to expand the league by one GM to make ten teams, including a friend whom couldn't compete in the inaugural season due to an heavy workload.

This being the first keeper league in which we've competed, we're collectively unsure as to whether Yahoo facilitates such an expansion. Has anybody here been in a Yahoo fantasy keeper league that has successfully undergone expansion, whether by one or multiple GMs? Or, will we have to start over, creating a new league (on Yahoo, regardless of any spruiking of other sites) and executing an offline draft?

Two Options come to mind.

1) Expansion Draft.

I'm not sure how many keepers you're all keeping, let's say it's 5. This season you make an exception and everyone is allowed to protect 4 players, leaving the 5th keeper vulnerable with the ability to be scooped by the incoming GM.

This, as well as giving them the first pick of that's left in the waiver pool.

EDIT: should a GM lose their 5th keeper, they are given an extra draft pick at the end of the draft to make their roster even with others. It's not exactly 'fair' to that GM, but it is the nature of the beast, and if their team was dominant last year, it helps level the playing field a little bit while bringing in your 10th team.

2) Make them expand and rebuild through the draft.

Will they be at a disadvantage? Yes of course. But if your league implemented the ability to trade draft picks in the future, once the new GM is out of the running this year, he could firesale his assets and look to rebuild through the draft the following year, while holding onto 1 or 2 players of value to carry forward.

Expnasion is definitely possible, it's just a matter of which route everyone would agree too.
