I'm in a bit of a quandry. I'm in a 20 team keeper league (at hoops.sports.ws) and I have to whittle my roster down to 9 players for a protected list. (We're having an expansion draft.)
My roster:
C Greg Oden (POR)
CF Kevin Love (MIN)
CF Serge Ibaka (OKL)
CF JaVale McGee (WAS)
G Deron Williams (UTA)
G Jrue Holiday (PHI)
FG J.R. Smith (DEN)
FG Jason Richardson (PHO)
G O.J. Mayo (MEM)
-------------
GF Terrence Williams (NJN) These players will be cut for our expansion draft
G Marcus Thornton (NOR)
F Jordan Hill (HOU)
Here's my problem. Although O.J is a stud in real life, for fantasy purposes, he has statistically been the worst player on my team for two years now. He scores and that's about it. I'm starting to think he has hit his ceiling and what you see is what you're always going to get.
I can't figure out if I should hold onto him yet another year, while being forced to release Terrence Williams, who seems to be a more versatile player, plays two positions, and to me, has more upside in being able to generate stats across the board. I feel like I'd be an idiot to release Mayo, but......
O.J. is on the bubble, despite being a starter and top draft pick in the real world. Is it worth holding onto him? His lack of power production is taking it's toll on me.
Thoughts?

Re: O.J. Mayo...overated??
It's hard to see Mayo's number changing drastically until he's moved to a different situation. As it stands, I'd say the forecast for this season should be similar to that of last year. Memphis brought in Tony Allen and could still be looking to fit Xavier Henry into the mix as well.
I know they're giving him time at PG this off season to see if he can fill in as a backup, but it remains to be seen how successful that is.
Tough call for you - but T-Will does seem to have more of an upside, however NJ did bring in Morrow and Outlaw, so maybe his touches decrease as well.
Now, if Williams happens to be moved in a Melo trade, then I think you'll see exactly what he's capable of with no restrctions.
Tough call. It's your team, so go with what player you enjoy following more so, and live with it. Mayo s good for buckets, but not much else. While T Will rebounds and stls, blks should improve.

The league is in hoops.sports.ws thus production per minute carry a lot of weight. By that logic, I think Mayo and J-rich are your least productive players so I'd probably look to combine them for a more productive guard.
Thornton should be doing pretty well in that system though given his high production compared to modest playing time.

JR Smith could be on his way out of the league, while T-Will will play just as much if not more with Courtney Lee and CDR gone.

Mayo is overrated, but I would keep JRich over Smith.

Drop J.R. Smith and Mayo
Keep Thornton and T-Will....
You don't really need more than one 3 point specialist/SG, and I like J Rich the most. Thornton should improve, as should T-Will...
JR could get traded anywhere, and Mayo is good but easy to let go as he is Points and nothing else (your team looks good in that dept., so let him go)....Also, It looks like you are a nice guy if you give up Mayo to an expansion team.
