Vince Carter value?

I know, I know, not great last season, known to be lazy when things don't suit him, but the wiretap caught my attention.
Orlando has a team option on him for 2011/12 worth $18.3 Mil, which they certainly won't want to exercise at this point in time. Carter won't get near that much in free agency these days, so he is essentially playing for a nice fat bonus year, and higher contract in the future.
How much will this fairly unique situation affect his play? Do you think he'll step it up and put up numbers like motivated NJ Vince? There's no better time for him to do so.
