Need some advice on my team. Urgent! (14 team roto)_

Post#1 » by Kirsten19 » Mon Oct 18, 2010 9:40 am

I m in a 14-teams roto fantasy, i got the 14th pick n here is my roster

Josh Smith
Nash
Marc Gasol
Stephen Jackson
Baron Davis
Yao Ming(sigh)
Niclas Batum
Demarcus Cousins
Luke Ridnour
Thaigo Splitter
Amir Johnson
Richard Hamilton
Jeff Teague

Some of the FAs i m interested in Toney Douglas, Steve Blake or Ty Lawson for Teague? and how about Evan Turner (current FA) for Hamilton??

Shall i trade Baron Davis n Yao Ming for Felton and Varejao? or Udrih and Bogut??

Please rate this team, many thanks!

First four picks are outstanding. With Smith, Nash, Gasol and Jackson you cover a lot of bases in a roto league especially. After that it seems to go downhill a little bit. Baron is very injury prone and can harm you in fg% and turnovers. Yao will be very limited, while Batum is a sleeper but I'm not expecting much. Cousins will be your top bigman in my opinion. Luke is ok, Splitter is injured and has to compete with Blair, Amir may not start and is limited by fouls, Hamilton is a non factor at this point. Teague is a good sleeper because there's a good chance that he can overtake Bibby.

Baron and Yao have more name value than anything else. They should net you more than those packages. Your on the right track though, you need another premier big to help Cousins and Gasol. and a more efficient pg than Baron. If these packages are from the same team then I would consider Bogut/Felton. Otherwise aim a little higher. Make sure you get a premier bigman and try for a good three point shooter since you don't have too many.

I would take Teague over any of those free agents available. He has more of an oppurtunity or simply more potential than any of them.

Shall i do Baron Davis + Yao Ming for Udrih + Bogut? Nah, Felton is in another team

I realize Bogut is almost just as injury prone n not as efficient as Yao Ming in terms of %; but Udrih is certainly a few levels below Baron Davis

Based on preseason, Amir Johnson looks great

Splitter's injury is not serious is he?

How long will he be out for?

I thought my top bigman is either Josh Smith or Marc Gasol??

I rather Yao + Baron than Bogut + Udrih. To be honest though I rather Bogut despite his injurt concerns over Yao though. Yao is limited to 24 minutes per game, his coach doesn't want to play him more than that for awhile. That severely effects what he put up on the stat sheet.

Amir look good but it looks like Evans is going to start over him. Combine that with the fact that Amir is one the most foul prone players in the league. He can't seem to play more than 20-25 minutes per game based on his foul rate. I do like him at the end of your roster though.

Splitter has been out since Oct 1st or so and still hasn't played. I have no idea what's going on with him. They said he was supposed to rest for 10 days but it's been much longer than that.

Yes, Gasol is your best bigman I miswoded the analysis.

I drafted Yao because with Josh Smith n Marc, I cant affrod to have another big who has low FT% n high TO. Yao is quite efficient, and i do believe the "24mins limit" is a myth, i doubt the Rockets will bench him if they're behind in an important game for example

When fit, Yao was definitely a top 10 pick. Gives u reb, blk, FT%, FG%, pts, some assists and not very high TOs. I think he had similar stats as Pau Gasol these days, but that was 3-4 seasons ago........

Thats a real concern tho, is he washed up? Lets dont forget Shawn Marion was a 2nd/3rd round pick back then
