Title is pretty self explanatory. This is a 5 center strategy. The goal is to draft 5 quality centers within the first 8 rounds.
League Settings: H2H, 10 teams, standard 9 Yahoo categories
My draft:
1. (6) Pau Gasol PF,C
2. (15) Gerald Wallace SF,PF
3. (26) Al Horford PF,C
4. (35) Manu Ginobili SG
5. (46) Marcus Camby PF,C
6. (55) Troy Murphy PF,C
7. (66) Jason Terry PG,SG
8. (75) Channing Frye PF,C
9. (86) Jamal Crawford PG,SG
10. (95) Anthony Morrow SG,SF
11. (106) Corey Maggette SF,PF
12. (115) Wilson Chandler SF,PF
13. (126) Raja Bell SG
The 5 centers are going to carry my rebounds, blocks, and fg% without killing me in any categories (relied on basketballmonster.com stats from last year). The rest of the guards/wings are 3 point specialists.
I think I will be strong in reb, blks, FG%, TOs, and 3pts every week. Should be competitive in FT% and steals. Weakness is in assists and points.
Thoughts on the 5 C strategy?
Thoughts on how to improve this roster?
TRADE UPDATE:
Received trade proposal:
Kidd, Bosh and Andre Miller
for
PGasol, JCrawford and Maggette.
Countered by exchanging Andre Miller with Andrei Kirilenko.
Giving up a lot of scoring, but get the assists and steals I need.

It might have worked if you picked some good C's. Horford is the only C on your team I would have drafted.

You know I'm finding it hard to criticize your team. Dwight Howard would probably have been better for your team than Pau, but Gerald Wallace is a great complimentary player for your strategy, given he stays healthy, and picking up a bunch of 3-point specialists was smart as well. Your analysis of the stats you're good and bad at seems right to me. It definitely would be good for you if you bulked up steals a bit...being good at only 5 categories is a bit risky.

Channing Frye is just the worst possible Center for this strategy. Troy Murphy is a great shooter but has a career 44 FG%. Marc Gasol, Nene, Roy Hibbert, all would have helped preserve your FG%. Pau, Horford and Crash won't be enough to win FG% against true big ball teams.

All of these guys are top 50 based on last years performance, with no significant factors contributing to significant decline. Here are basketball monster stats from last year.

Checking out my total stats for these guys, I have supplemented the bigs with guards with stronger FG% to mitigate taking some of the unconventional bigs who shoot from deep (Murphy and Frye)

I view this as a hybrid roto H2H strategy. My team is designed to take advantage of the opponents weak categories as well as being strong in 5. I suppose this could be the failure in the design, but other than points and assists, I have a chance to win each week. Plus, I can always trade for a guard or two who can dish and steal and then bam, points are my only weakness. So I should be able to adjust my rotation to make sure I am a bit ahead of my opponent to eek out enough categories by my measure.

I don't like it. Bosh is going to suck this year and Pau will be a force with Bynum out. Maggette will put up similar numbers to Bosh. I don't think you should expect more than 15 & 7 from Bosh this year. I wouldn't make that move if I were you.

If you take points out of the equation (since this trade would mean I am tanking points) than do you do it?
I think Bosh won't put up as many points, but he should still grab a bunch of rebounds -- who else on the Heat can grab any?
And what about kirlenko vs dre Miller? I figured a half season of kirilenko is better than a full season of andre miller (seeing as how I can play a specialist when kirilenko is out)

I still don't like the trade. I'm not a big AK fan because of the injury concerns. I think Pau is significantly better than Kidd, Bosh is significantly better than Maggette and I would rather have J. Crawford over AK57 any day of the week. I think you could do a lot better than this trade if you are going to dangle Pau.

tshaf,
I would offer Pau and Manu for Bosh, Kidd, AK47 and Westbrook. That might give you good enough value to deal Pau, but your center strategy really relies on you having one great guy to build around. You also honestly are not going to win assists with just Kidd because you have no good assist guys on your current team and one player rarely can win a stat himself. Getting Westbrook too may help that out.
Bosh is going to be nowhere near as good as his draft position seems to indicate as third fiddle in Miami...
