J.R Smith?

Hey guys,

So i drafted JR Smith (even with his bad FG%) and was wondering if I should drop him for Affalo. I dont know if Affalo is a one-week wonder or he will consistently get minutes. J.R smith has been disappointing so far, but I am afraid one big game with change everything.

Any help is appreciated.

JR Smith is such a headache to have on fantasy teams. I had him last year. His inconsistency is ridiculous. I would play him in favorable match-ups and he would end up 1-9 with 4 points. Then I would bench him and he would hit 5+ 3 pointers. I benched him for his 10 3point game last year.

What I like about Afflalo is that doesn't jack up contested jumpers. When he has bad days his FG% doesn't hurt much (because he probably didn't shoot many shots), but when JR smith has a bad day his FG% is terrible. However, JR Smith has a better chance to have big games due to his penchant to throw up 3 balls.

Tough decision, but I am staying away from JR Smith from now on.

The only thing J.R Smith is good for is streaming when you're in a H2H league and it's the last day and 3's are tied. If that is not the case forget about him. Whoever picks him up will drop him eventually. He is one of those guys that's go on the wire every other week.

I agree with the other guys. Smith is just a headache to own, especially when you can fill his spot with a productive player. With that said I don't know if I would drop him for Afflalo? They seem to be in a timeshare. Who else is available on waivers???

I'd personally wait until Melo is gone before owning him. He just isn't going to get enough minutes to produce in other areas even with the bad shooting nights.

When/if Melo is traded, I expect him to be pretty damn good though(depending on who the Nuggets get back). He could end up becoming the starting SF and playing 30 mpg. That combined with more shots and it being a contract year...could be fun.

Still can't figure out where all the Afflalo love is coming from... Shot attempts galore WILL NOT be there like they were in preseason. His role in Denver is to defend the opposing team's best perimeter player he's never going to be force-fed shots...

About the only thing he has going in his favor and why I understand being down on J.R. is that Afflalo is playing a ton of minute right now, now is that going to be a permanent thing?

Who knows...

Who are you benching for him?

Usually guys like him at home is always a good start, but it depend on who you're benching for him and what the current score in your match up.

Obviously if you're winning 3's by a mile and losing rebounds then you shouldn't start him. If you are behind in 3's by like only a little and the last utility spot is him vs a big then yes start him.
