BENOBILLUPS!?

Post#1 » by tamarslayer » Thu Nov 18, 2010 1:46 am

So I just pulled off this trade (well could be vetoed but that's unlikely IMO):

Outgoing:
- Beno Udrih
- Carlos Delfino

Incoming:
- Chauncey Billups
- Caron Butler

Not knowing who else is on my team (this is a 16 team H2H league), and knowing that I'm basically tanking FG% what do you think of the value?

why would that not get vetoed? are you kidding? thats like almost two top 20 players for two who cant even crack the top100

that would get vetoed in a second in any serious league

It did get vetoed but come on Butler isnt even close to being a top 20 player and hasnt been for a good amount of time. Hell delfino who is just carrying over his 2nd half play from last year - has outplayed him and there really is no argument otherwise. Similarly beno has outplayed billups this year.

Name value =/= Real value.

Might tweak it replacing Butler with Murphy bu next thing you know people will claim MURPHY is going to be a double-double 2 3ptm player this year ..

Name versus real value has a component you seem to overlook. Just because someone is on a hot-streak lets say delfino does NOT make them anywhere close to as valuable as lets say butler, who is a consistent threat. Butler is injured but as the season goes along he will stay consistent 15 ppg 5 boards couple assists and like 1.7 STEALS on good %. thats what makes him so valuable.

Delfino is chucking trash. He just heaves up shots and is only good for points and 3's. enough said...

And as for Beno and billups... are you F***ing kidding? yes i have beno on my team as well hes a decent late round pickup but to compare him to billups is asinine. billups is shooting like 30% and he is a career 40+ % shooter. His shots will come around. Come crunch time he will easily be hitting two threes a game. Not to mention one of the BEST ft shooters in the league.

Note how Beno is coming off the bench? that lowers his fantasy value...

Judging by your trade, and reaction to it getting vetoed, you have no concept of value when it comes to players. If i were you just keep sending the horribly one sided trades and wait for some counter offers.

This is where watching basketball and not being a boxscore watcher helps. Caron Butler is the odd man out in Dallas. When Beaubois comes back it will be his - not Terry's - value that is cut in to.

Delfino is just continuing how he played the last 30-40 games of the 2009-2010 season. The
first part of last year was just a readjustment period for Delfino as he had played overseas the previous year, he was getting to know his teammates, and he had to win over Scott Skiles.

With that being said if you want to rely strictly on stats, throw out rebounds and assists when comparing Butler and Delfino because it's a complete wash.

It's comical to pretend like Caron Butler is close to a Top 20 player under any valuation system (). This isn't 2006-2007 anymore.

You know what... I oversold Beno. But depending on team composition he is arguably playing better than Billups RIGHT NOW, and that's all I was getting at. Obviously long-term I'd rather have Billups hence why I accepted the trade offer.

And for or the sake of accuracy... Billups is 41.6% shooter he's a net negative on your FG% regardless of whether hes shooting well or not.

Note how Beno is coming off the bench? that lowers his fantasy value...

It's not a permanent move nor is it anything to be worried about. Google "Paul Westphal + rotation".

Coming from someone who claimed Caron Butler has / will have almost close to top 20 value this year, I don't know whether I should laugh or be concerned

regardless "oddman out" or not, butler will give you consistent scoring steals and %. saying him and delfino have the same trade value is ridiculous. Not to mention Maggette is there and as the season progresses his time will increase cutting into delfinos.

Im not the one who offered the trade... you are...

obviously butler has value or you wouldnt be trying to trade for him... good call trading for a player whose value is low, but beno and delfino is nowhere close to legit value for billups and butler. I dont even think beno and delfino would get you billups alone.

Look at it from the other way around, would you GIVE UP your second and third round picks for players most likely grabbed off the waivers or something. i doubt it. you would hold them and trade when there value was higher.

You have to give the other team some incentive to do the trade.

Maggette won't eat into Delfino's playing time or shot attempts. He's strictly an off-the-bench spark in Milwaukee and Skiles isn't one to change his starting lineup if it downgrades the unit defensively.

It's also worth noting that despite being healthy now Maggette's minutes averaged with and without Delfino are exactly the same.

Butler has value but I think you're putting too much emphasis on what he accomplished in the past. He's on a noticeable decline right now. If I could I would keep the less consistent Delfino in this trade.

Thought I posted this but... I ended up agreeing on Beno + Delfino for Billups + Murphy.

As a Nets fan I really have no confidence of Murphy doing anything this year so there's a part of me that doesn't like the trade anymore :-/...
