Any input would be appreciated with the following:
(9 cat league, roto, 13 player, 14-16 teams)
1) pick four keepers from Ellis, Josh Smith, Granger, Wall, Billups, Lopez and Monroe and why?
2) Collison or Lawson?
3) Matthews, DeRozan or Jax?
4) Billups/Douglas or Collison/Hill or Lawson/Miller or Calderon/Bayless handcuff?
5) most difficult position to acquire talent to easiest position? C, SG, PG, PF, SF?

You just keep 4 players straight up?
If so, Ellis/Smith/Granger/Wall. They're your four best players.
If you lose a draft pick or something ilke that, then Monroe/Smith/Granger/Wall.
Lawson. Not a big fan of Collison + Hill is gonna take some of his minutes.
Eh... S-Jax. There's risk because he's old, but almost across the board he's significantly better than DeRozan and Matthews. You could make a case for Matthews, though.
PG/PF/C/SF/SG. That's pretty much how it is every year. Elite talent at PG/PF helps you much more than elite talent at SF/SG. The talent at SF/SG, indeed, is largely replaceable. You can get by with the Chase Budingers of the world.

1) Ellis, Smith, Granger, Wall - Solid start for a small ball team
2) Lawson - He was much better last year when given the opportunities, I don't see that changing.
3) Matthews - I don't like S-Jax tanking by FG% and Derozan doesn't have the overall fantasy game
4) I wouldn't roll with a handcuff personally. I see the appeal, but I'd rather not worry about the handcuffs and go with a higher upside team. That being said of those choices, I'd grab Douglas probably.
5) I agree with Apathy. Don't worry about the SG/SFs. By the end of my season last year I was rolling with Dudley/Delfino/Meeks as my only SG/SFs and I was happy about it. Stock up on PGs if you can.

Re tanking FG%,
With Ellis, Granger and Wall his FG% is already raped.

Good point. They're also going to hurt his TOs a lot which is Matthews' main advantage. That being considered, I'd go Jax too (Matthews is a safer pick though, Jax is old and the Jackson-Skiles could get dicey).

1) Ellis, Smith, Granger, and Wall. Just like what Bank Shot said, they're your 4 best players.
2) I maybe biased but i'm leaning towards Collison. I believe George Hill would see minutes at the two, playing alongside Collison when Vogel gives Granger / George rest. Denver's got a good point guard in Lawson, and a better point guard in Andre Miller, although he may not stick that long. But neither can play two so that automatically means divided minutes, IMO.
3) Stephen Jackson. People most of the time overlook his fantasy value. Not to mention he's on a better Bucks team now.
4) Billups / Douglas.
5) I believe you gotta load up on assists early on, as you won't find a good top tier PG in the middle of the draft. Rebounds are everywhere but be sure to grab someone who can anchor the rebs and blocks. Due to scarcity, i believe assists and steals are the hardest to win at.

Re: Need some help determining my keepers and general questi
So none of you feel that Lopez will continue his late season serge with Deron feeding him in the post?
I always worry that Granger will begin to decline or Josh Smith will start to lose his mind and try to overplay the Hawks or totally lose interest.
The Billups / Douglas combo super intrigues me playing in that system. Lots of 3's and A's to be had.
Thanks to everyone who responded. I really appreciate the 3rd party advice.

Lopez's problem is **** rebounding. It's simply intolerable.
Wouldn't overreact to Granger's down year. He's 28.
I'm slightly down on Billups because he's really getting up there in age. And playing with D'Antoni isn't much of an upgrade, if at all, on his DEN days.
I dunno if I just missed the Billups v Lawson thing or if you edited Billups/Douglas later. Billups v Lawson is close. Billups will age well because he's big and can shoot, but his lack of steals/assists keep him from elite status. His minutes are gradually decreasing so I'm beginning to worry about the effect on wear-and-tear on his 35-year-old body.
Lawson has been performing like an elite PG, however, since he's been in the L. Since it's a keeper league you gotta go with Lawson; he's going to be elite for a long, long time. There are very few players I'd keep over Lawson for the next 3-5 years, and the longer this keeper league exists obv the better it is for Lawson.
