I've been pondering this for a while and I would like to know what some of y'all think about this topic.

What are some of the best rules for Auction Keeper leagues?

What's the best number of teams to have in the league?

How much is your budget?

How many keepers are you allowed to protect?

Is there a penalty for keeping players (ie. keeper tax/annual raises)

It really depends on your preferences. I doubt there are rules which everyone would like.

IMHO it's all about one question: what kind of players should be available for free?
More teams means going deeper into the pool.

Technically it doesn't matter at all so IMHO it just should be easy, e.g. 50-60M$ [like salary cap] or 500-600$ if you can't bid with fractions.

3. Enough to have an advantage but probably not enough to win a league before draft.

Would it make sense to keep player forever at the same price? IMHO no.
Also I like an idea of RFA system in which you can match some players you've had last year on a new salary which is a result of standard bidding.
