Hi, I tried to get some advice in 'Rate your team' thread, but no recall, so maybe a new topic is required.
My team is, as always:
PG: Irving, Jennings, Holiday
SG/SF: Deng, Joe-J, Henderson, T-Allen & bloody Derozan
PF/C: Love, Boozer, Millsap, Varejao, M. Gasol
10 team, 8-cat roto, 218 games played.
My team is strong at rebounds, points and steals. I'd like to improve on percentages, assists and three-pointers though.
Basically, other players in the league are not responsive and it's highly unlikely to make a deal with them, with one exception. Interesting players in that team are: Gallinari, Harden, Lawson, Manu & Rondo + Howard as superstars.
Nice FA's: Harrington, Jamison, Marion, Brooks, Ridnour, Rip, Fields, Delfino.
With all given facts, my questions are:
1) Who should I get rid off, and what way (dropping/trading)?
2) Is there anybody worth picking among FAs'?
3) How to trade Derozan and get one of the players mentioned above?
4) In rotisserie there are limits for each position - how to manage my team rotation to get best results?
I know it's a lot, but I'm a newbie (who trusted someone on this forum with drafting Horford, T. Allen and Boozer).

How to improve using FA's?

Re: How to improve using FA's?
Well, it seems I should drop Demar, but I see nobody better than him on FA.
Generally speaking, my team is doing good and I'm glad to draft players you specified in December, but limits in roto give me a headache. I really don't know if I should take Tony Allen to starting lineup while his only good stat is steals (1.8 per game, not mindblowing). It looks for me like a waste of slot.
I dropped Henderson though and replaced him with Hayward (he seems to get better recently). I'll also try trading Gallinari or Pau Gasol in, but, as I said, total number of trades during this season in my league is.... 0. So patience and checking waivers/FAs is the only way.
Thanks, Apathy.

Re: How to improve using FA's?
dont underrate rare stats. steals, FT%, FG%, assists and blocks are extremely rare and therefore valuable. if you perused the player rater you would note allen is 7th in his impact in steals (2.76 deviations from the mean). he's actually above-average in every category but 3s and assists.
and 1.8 spg is mind-blowing, wtf?
his PT has increased recently and i think it's a sustainable trend. i estimated he'd average 28-32 mpg over the season, which is the reason i had him so highly ranked (fringe top 50). but as he's shown this year and last, even if he doesn't get that many minutes he's virtually guaranteed top 80-90 value because of his defensive prowess, which ensures he sees a decent a mount of minutes and racks up a plethora of steals.
as a result he is one of the grizzlies' best players (their best wing, certainly) so it stands to reason that, as his contributions to winning are eventually realized, he will garner more PT
