Thoughts on John Lucas

Hello Raptors Fans,

I wanted your thoughts on John Lucas for this upcoming season, I drafted him this year on my fantasy as my last overall pick as a pretty much low risk high reward type of thing. Do you believe he is going to get playing time this year on this current raptors squad as a potential 6th man off the bench? Any feedback would be great about him, I am really trying to win a Fantasy Basketball League this year.

Thanks

Lucas reminds me a prime Barbosa - but shorter, smarter and much cheaper. He got 12 points in less than 9 minutes in Montreal.

The team braintrust prizes 3-point shooting right now (so of course we let our best shooter last season walk for nothing). Ross, despite being drafted over Drummond because we're apparently in win-now mode this season, doesn't give the impression of being ready for major minutes. So how can Casey NOT play Lucas? Nobody on the team can score like him.

OK, finished grinding my axes.

He's Casey's "Jason Terry". He'll probably see more minutes at the 2 than the backup 1, assuming Calderon stays healthy. I wonder what this will do to our backup swings (Ross, Kleiza, Anderson).

Prime Barbosa! That's 6th man of the year. This dude is as old as current Barbosa and plays nothing like him. As an aside, Vinnie Johnson made a lot of terrible basketball players a lot of money.

Yeah, he's obviously not as fast. No-one is. I was just thinking of his effect. Barbosa (when hot) just terrorized the opposition. The issue now isn't his age (29 - big deal), but the wrist injury.

I guess Jet is a better comparison. And so finally Casey gets the player he couldn't mould Bayless into. I just hesitate to call Lucas a 6th man. He's not that good. But he should be able to do a lot of damage in his 10-12 mpg.

Don't see him playing big minutes, unless Calderon got traded.

He won't have any fantasy value baring major injuries.

He's earned minutes this season. If you're in a deep league, give him a shot.

He's not going to get much playing time with Jose Calderon still on the roster even though he deserves it more. Maybe after the trade deadline he'll have some value
