Am I getting screwed or what??

Post#1 » by BAMartian » Fri Nov 9, 2012 7:44 pm

My league is totally screwing me over and I don't understand why no one in my league realizes it.

Here's the scenario:

- I was offered a deal yesterday .. Tony Parker for Kyle Lowry (I get Lowry). Now Lowry has been playing off the charts but he injured himself last game so the injury concerns lowered his value. I felt it was worth the risk and agreed to the trade.
- The trade gets approved by the commissioner and it's good to go. No one complains or says anything about it
It turns out the guy who traded for Parker intended to flip him and had worked out a very lopsided offer for DWade. He intentionally didn't tell me he was planning on flipping Parker so I had no idea.
- His second trade gets accepted by both sides but isn't approved by the commish. everyone in the league complains about it and they plan on vetoing it.
-The guy who made the trade says that the only reason he traded Lowry was so he could flip Parker and demands that he gets Lowry back if the trade gets vetoed.
-Obviously I disagree because i had nothing to do with the second trade. I didn't know about it, we never agreed to that stipulation and as far as I'm concerned he took a risk and it didn't work out.

Now for some strange reason the league is siding with him and they want to reverse BOTH trades. Does this make any sense to anyone? How is this my responsibly and how can they penalize me for something I didn't even know about? No one complained about my trade until after the subsequent trade was disputed. Worst of all, this discussion didn't start until 24 hours after the Lowry/Parker trade went through so I'm missing Parker in my lineup today.

To me this situation is incredibly messed. If I was the one that took that risk there's no way I'd expect to get my original guy back if it didn't work out. I mean, if it was a three way trade where the first was contingent on the second then that'd be different. But that wasn't the case at all. Am I crazy or this league ****?

You should definitely voice your opinion on the board in that league. Pretty much say what you just said here. What the other person does with his trades aFTER the trade with you should not be YOUR responsibility.

To be honest, if the rest of the league cannot see something simple like that then you should probably join a different league next year.

Yeah man, I've spent most of the day complaining about the decision and they eventually ended up taking it to a vote. I was initially losing by a lot but luckily a couple reasonable league member have since voted in my favor. But even still I'm losing the vote and the fact that they even took it to a vote blows my mnd

Ya, you're getting ****. They're might be some collusion going on because this is super fishy.

I don't even see an argument for their side. I'd probably argue that in real life, if a team made a trade with an intention of flipping the guy and the other team backed out, nothing would happen. Tough situation. In any reasonable league this wouldn't happen.

Also, who is this clown trading Wade for TP? Because not only did he want to trade Wade for TP, he wanted TP over Lowry lol

You're getting screwed over. Those people are being completely outrageous. That is complete bs. The other guy should have had a definite deal in place before he did that trade with you. Refer your league to here and show them how dumb they are being.

He took the risk and it didn't work out. You have nothing to do with it so you should keep Lowry.

If I were you, I'd threaten to screw over the league by dropping players, benching your stars, etc., although the commish could possibly take over your team as a result Stern/Nawleans style. Would be hilarious.

If Lowry is taken from you, leave the league and find one with sensible players.
This league sounds like collusion paradise.

Complete bull**** as far as I'm concerned. Big time collusion going on.
