Pau for Ellis?

Post#1 » by Det2Phl » Mon Dec 3, 2012 4:40 pm

I'm next to last in my league right now (went for Bynum, still holding onto him for some reason). Got offered Ellis for my P. Gasol. Seriously considering it. I'd be having to bet heavily that Sanders or Seraphin continue in the direction they are going right now. 10 team/std cat H2H. Thoughts?

PG - Chris Paul
PG/SG - Mo Williams
PG - Kyle Lowry
SG/SF - Nicolas Batum
PF/C - Larry Sanders
SF - Al-Farouq Aminu
PF/C - Al Jefferson
PF/C - Byron Mullens
SG - Vince Carter
SG.SF - Dorell Wright
PG - Aaron Brooks
SF/PF - Shawn Marion
PG/SF - Kyle Singler
PF/C - Pau Gasol
PF/C- Brandon Bass
PF/C- Kevin Seraphin
C- Andrew Bynum-inj

lol yes. Gasol is actually doing bad with dantoni's system.
People thought Gasol would flourish with dantoni, but it's actually Howard whos running the PnR.

And bynum is not coming back for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.

Meh tossup. I know everyone is down on Pau, I am too, but he won't play this bad all year. Nash will help a lot, and Antoni won't be this clueless in terms of how to use Pau all year. If you bump his FG up to 50% (not even giving Pau any point bump) he ends up around 4th round value. Given that this would probably boost his PPG as well he'd be even higher than that. I doubt he gets to 50% this year but I do see his value going up.

Its not like Monta has been a stud since he's been traded to the Bucks either. He's 6th round value this year and was about the same after the trade last year. Honestly, the days of both guys being fantasy studs are probably gone. I'd probably take Pau because I can see his numbers going up in certain situations. Its not a certainty but I don't see what's going to change for Monta.

And ya, drop Bynum.

I wouldn't say he's as low as 6th round value, He's averaging 18/5(assists), 1.5 steals and about 1 three with good FT%. He certainly isn't helping in the FG% but he's not going to destroy you there either. But you're spot on saying his days of 1st or 2nd round value look done. Still one of the better SG options but It's sort of a shame because he was giving 24/5/etc/etc/etc/etc just a year ago.

I'd probably wait till Nash returns but by then the other owner's feelings about the trade may change. Idk, your choice. But right now I'd rather have Ellis.

Pau fah dayz. So much easier to build around. Pau's #s plug in on any team and he can only improve. And if it's 9cat it's not even close.

The guy offering Ellis is obviously trying to buy Paul Gasol low. Don't fall for it. Monta will not really help your team any more than what Pau is giving you besides scoring a bit more points but that would be trivial. You'd lose out in FG%, rebounds, blocks and TO's by giving up Pau for a much more inefficient Monta.

Besides, Pau might get traded this year ('I'm thinking this will finally happen) and he's going to put up value wherever he ends up.

Ya, this should be prime time for everyone to go try to get Pau cheap. The trade rumours sound more legit then in the past and it looks like he'll be out a week or two.

I'll ride or die w/ my love for Pau. Plz get this guy. Even if he doesn't bounce back at all he's not killing your team, and the chances he does? First-round pick potential in 9-cat roto leagues...
