10 team h2h league, I have Howard&Horford. Been trying to move Howard for Melo for a while but I prob give up too much here right, especially in rebounding. Need some scoring and 3 pointers however, but that might solve with E.Gordons return?
My team:
PG: C.Paul, M.Conley, K.Irving
SG: E.Gordon, Jordan Crawford
SF: K.Thompson, J.Dudley
PF: Nene, T.Young
C: M.Gasol, D.Howard, A.Horford

Bad idea to target Melo right now. He's a huge name, scoring is always overrated, and his 3pt% will regress. As that regresses so will his FG%. In general you want to avoid high-volume scorers because they shoot so many jump shots / are so dependent on their FG%, so when it goes sour, it goes sour in a big way. There's a huge difference between 46-47% FG at 20 shots a game and 43-44% FG at 20 shots a game. The former is quite beneficial while the latter is the treadmill of mediocrity.
And you're trading two bigs for two swingmen, which is a big no-no. Awful trade all-around.

I don't think ever trading big for small applies in fantasy. If anything bigs have become so common that everyone and their mother is given PF/C eligibility.
But I agree I don't like that deal either. You giving too much to buy high on Melo. Let him come back down to earth. Coincidentally might happen around the new year, taking Felton out and inserting STAT and Shumpert should be interesting.
