This is my first year playing in fantasy and I am learning everything as I go.
In this league, a daily 16 team, 9 cat H2H, a HUGE mistake I made was dropping Glen Davis rather than waiting out his injury.
As noob as you can see I am, I was just hoping for some experienced players perspectives about preparing for the playoffs.
Our league was designed so that the 16 players were divided into 4 divisions, and I am currently 5th overall, and dominating in first in my division. The top 2 teams per division go ahead to the playoffs.
Taking into consideration my strong indication of moving ahead to the playoffs, and playing in a league as deep as this one, to maximize my teams chances in the playoffs, is it better to just scrape the bottom of the barrel of the FA waiver, or try and get some quality 2 for 1 trades and have "more" quality players than fewer superstars?
I have no idea how I am winning in this league, nor am I complaining. I dont even have a PG.
Here is my team:
Guards/Forwards
Matthews
Thornton
Hayward
Dunleavy
Alan Anderson
Dorell Wright
Hedo Turkgolu
Bigs
Faried
Cousins
Josh Smith
Hibbert
Mullens
Drummond
As it stands I am currently being offered Darren Collison for one of my bigs , and the owner also wants to get rid of his vucevic.
Thanks in advanced for taking the time to help!

Re: Deep Fantasy Strategy Help
Vucevic is really solid this year but I'm not sure who you'd have to give up in order to get him (he's probably selling him high so his asking price will be steep).
I would probably only give up Hibbert, Drummond, Mullens (any combination of the 3) for Collison as Darren would be a great fit for your team. Your other bigs are a bit too valuable trade for Collison straight up.
As it stands right now, Turkoglu is probably the most droppable player on your roster. Mullens will be coming back from the ankle injury soon and can provide you with some decent stats for 16-team league.
I'm curious to know if you can point out any notable FA's on your waiver wire? Perhaps I can help recommending some adds to replace Hedo (preferably another PG). A couple of deep-level adds that may or may not be available in your league are Jared Sullinger, John Henson, Carlos Delfino, Eric Bledsoe, Landry Fields, JJ Barea, Beno Udrih, etc. Let me know if any of these are available.
As a general piece of advice -> in deep H2H leagues, depth is always more important than having a big-named star on your team. Since the talent pool is spread pretty thin in a deep league, you want as many consistent, solid players as you possibly can. You simply increase your chances of winning by having more depth than trying to rely on a select few players to carry a heavy load week in and week out. Because if any of those star players has an off-day or off-week, you'll be very hard-pressed to win. Whereas if you have a group of solid contributors that get the job done every night, you'll have a much higher consistency of out-performing your opponent.
I'm sure you'll have follow up questions. Hope this gets you started

Can u post ur waiver wire players?
U could use collison but I would not trade any of your bigs outside of Mullins for him

Thanks Yilun for the very detailed response, I will keep your tips in mind.
As of now the FAs that are available include:
Butler
Courtney Lee
Shannon Brown
Tyler Zeller
Jonas Valanciunas
J Green
M Belinelli
Shumpert
Neal
Webster
Stephenson
Augustin
Wright
Ross
I am considering Valanciunas and Zeller, But I am worried Valanciunas will lose playing time due to crowded Johnson, Davis and sometime soon Bargnani backcourt.
Zeller is also tempting, but unless I am wrong, turkgolu and wright may become starters soon, and anderson is a great ball hog, in just under 25 minutes he jacks up at least 10 shots with a majority of the shots being 3's.
Is vucevic still going to be as productive as he is now with Big Baby coming back?
Once again big thanks.

Wright is a good pick up in a deep league. He doesn't put up flashy numbers, but he can get hot any given game and otherwise contributes decently across the board (8+/4+/2+/1+)

Re: Deep Fantasy Strategy Help
I definitely like Zeller for the short term (next 4-5 weeks) simply because Cavs just don't have any more bodies to throw at the center position and he's going to eat up most of the minutes. Even if he is pretty green, he's going to get stats just because of sheer playing time. It'd be OK to use him as a rental because there is a high chance that the Cavs will shut down Varejao for the rest of the season because it already feels like this season is yet another lost cause for them. I'd consider dropping Hedo for him.
The other interesting guys I'd say would be Neal and Shumpert. Not sure when Shump is going to come back from injury but if he does, he'll be an instant contributor for any fantasy team. He's not going to shoot the ball at a very high percentage but he gets you stats across the board and can really bolster your steals category.
I put Neal on this list simply because the Spurs are an old team. Manu and Parker are injury-proned veterans on an aging SA squad who will see plenty of rest down the line as playoff-time draws near. When veterans rest, players like Neal usually benefit. This theory applies to other veteran teams as well, i.e. Boston Celtics. You can usually find FA waiver wire gold mines by monitoring the older teams who opt to limit their star minutes down the stretch which allow younger bench players to showcase what they have.

Neal, Zeller, Valanciunas... But just stream that spot, dude. They're all about the same replacement-level quality kind of player.
Keep Drummond, you need the upside. Keep Hibbert, he can only improve and you need the upside. Mullens is fairly valuable. Collison doesn't move the radar much for me. You don't want Vucevic, he'll cost an arm and a leg.
Shop Cousins, Smith. Hope you find a sucker. Stream Anderson/Turkeyglue's spots. You're screwed.
Deep leagues are (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to play in if it's a snake format. The top picks are extremely broken. If it's not auction don't even bother. The deeper the league the more broken the serpentine format becomes. Your roster is like the rl Bobcats. How can you compete without a t20 player?
