List your top candidates for breakouts players, undervalued, deep sleepers go!

Off top of my head b/o includes: Murray , Noel , hield, labissiere

Undervalued: favours, kanter, James Johnson , Seth curry

I'd add TJ Warren to that list regardless who the Suns draft at No 4. I expect Marquese Chriss to put up pretty solid numbers too. Though I'd still probably draft him maybe in the 9th round.
I also like to look at players who are entering the final year of their contract.

I'm not too familiar with the West. Aside from Warren and Chriss, who else should be on my radar?

Also I don't like taking rookies but if I had to gamble on 2 this year? who should I go for? Any ideas?

I'd say Fultz probably, I see him dominating in Philly with their lack of explosive guard play. Whichever guard Sacramento drafts is another one, if the Kings get Dennis Smith I think he'd put up numbers too..not sure if they draft a wing like Isaac or Tatum or something.

Watch out for Khris Middleton. Was coming off tearing his hamstring off the bone this year and was like 60%, but in top shape is a stud. With Jabari out, I expect a top form Middleton to put up 20+ ppg next season. He's someone I definitely see being overlooked.

Aaron Gordon could breakout next season, he had a nice season turnaround when they put him in his right position at the 4.

And now D'Angelo Russell

Julius Randle (LAL) will play for a new contract and he seems to be in a much better shape. He is not a big breakout candidate but if he isn't dealt to a team where he lands in a worse situation, he will be worth owning.
And while rookies are mostly not fun to own, maybe Lonzo Ball will be worth the risk in the later rounds. I wouldn't reach for him too much, but he will likely get around 30 minutes a game which should allow him to become an assist machine.

Will Barton (DEN) needs to be traded to become a nice sleeper candidate and to let Jamal Murray carve out consistent minutes.

rookies are rather risky because their roles tend to be inconsistent, they are usually very inefficient, etc.

it depends on what format you are playing and what strategy you are using (which categories you are punting) but rookie centers tend to be more reliable - they rebound, shoot a high % from the field, low turnovers, if they shoot well from the FT line that's a bonus. unfortunately there's no "slam dunk" rookie centers this year but jarrett allen should have a good shot at getting minutes in brooklyn and depending on his role i think john collins could have a good fantasy year in atlanta. he was productive in college and will really only have to compete with miles plumlee for minutes. while not a center, i like markkanen as a flier. he should get a decent amount of rebounds, hits 3's and free throws and only has to compete with bobby portis for minutes. by all means you can take a chance on zach collins too, i just think he'll struggle to get many minutes considering he struggled to get minutes in college. bam adebayo would be someone to target if it wasn't for whiteside.

for guards fultz, ball, fox and smith could all have pretty high usage out of the gate which is great for points leagues since they should put up bulk stats decently and their inefficiency doesn't impact them that much. don't know who i like best in year one but it'll likely be either fultz or smith.

there are some decent specialist players though, depending on role obviously. monk , justin jackson and kennard could be points/3's specialists, mitchell could be a 3's/steals specialist, if collins doesn't get a lot of minutes he could be a FG%/blocks specialist.

generally speaking though fultz would be the most obvious player to target. he's great across the board besides FT% and TO's.

Prince looks primed to turn into one of those steady stocks options that people undervalue due to low PPG. Lots of minutes available in ATL and he has 1/1/1 potential.

J Murray is an obvious one. 2 3PG and 5 APG pretty much guarantees at least top-120 value with a chance for much much more.

Gorgui's price is going to drop like a rock because of the Taj signing, but he always finds a way.

Even with the Amir signing, I still LOVE Holmes late. If Embiid plays 50 games this year, that's still a huge improvement. Holmes will eat at some point.

Also, Lou Will is the Clippers' best guard by a mile and I will be all over that especially in a punt dimes situation.

With the Hayward move, Ingles is now a great late-round grab. In the games he started last season, in 31 MPG, he put up 2.0 3PG, 1.5 SPG, 4.0 RPG, and 3.4 APG. Solid %s too.

Warren played 31 mpg and finished 66th in per game rating last year. Barring a trade, I don't see any realistic scenerio where he improves on either of those numbers and would actually predict that they both fall sharply. Just too many bodies dividing up those minutes.

Jusuf Nurkic has potential to be a top 4 big men fantasy this year. Hes on a big contract year and averaged 15/10/3 1.9blks 1.3stls with the blazers on 29 minutes. If he gets up to 33min, watch out.


I can see him going 16.5/11/4 2blks 1.3stls on solid percentages

seth curry is gonna continue improving and put up numbers similar to what he did in february/march last year. not really worried about dsj taking away from his stats

Nice breakout list above. I'd add Jaylen Brown, Brandon Ingram, and Schroder to that list. But then there's a list of guys who are available in that 5th to 8th round area I have questions about including the following:

Dwight Howard - does he bounce back in Charlotte?

Rajon Rondo - Will the Pels start him alongside Holiday?

Jeremy Lin - Is he starting with Russ?

KCP - What will his new role be in LAL?

Milos - Is he starting in LAC at the 1?

D. Jordan - How does he do with no CP3?

Chicago - Who takes the reign without Butler?

Gary Harris - Can his role expand?

Indiana - Who takes the reign without George? Young?

Miami - Does Olynyk start alongside Whiteside?

J. Parker - What is the deal with his health situation?

J. Simmons - He starts in Orlando, right?

D. Saric - How does his role change with Simmons back?


Curious to hear users thoughts on the above situations

Its still a little unclear on his injury situation, but Zach lavine should be a fantasy monster this year now that he will be the #1 option on a craptastic team.

During summer league he claimed that he thinks he'll be ready for training camp. if he goes a full campaign he'll be a steal

No. Over Ross or Fournier? Nah. They also have Hezonja who could develop into a solid roleplayer still.

not sure this can qualify as a sleeper but Ben Simmons is going to have boxscores that make people say "Joel Embiid who?" this season, as far as which guy being the face of the franchise goes. I'm talking 12/18/16/4/4 games. He's going to play the 1 on O most of the times getting his assists there, or drives to the rim if the d comes out on him, and then will be playing PF on D to eat up rebounds. Can't wait.
