8 weeks sure is a long time... I would maybe sit on him and see if you can mantain your pace and stay in first

yeah i would like to be able to get away with that. what makes it hard is that there are some pretty good players i could pick up, not on bynams level but they are good.

Drop him, then pick him up in 5 or 6 weeks. Should still be early enough that no one else grabs him, but late enough you don't take too big a hit.

hes not exactly having the best season, and before this injury no one on my roster was worth dropping for him

What if one is say, in a Keeper League? We keep 4 guys per year, and other candidates are Butler (lock), Pierce (also probably a lock), Tinsley (been absolutely awesome this year, but I don't know if I can count on him enough to make him a keeper), Boozer, Bosh and JJ. Knowing how Bynum should continue to grow, I'm really afraid of letting him go, because I'd really like to have him for next year.

I'm in first and third in my two leagues ... and I'm trying to use my 5th waiver priority on him to sit him on my roster for the next 8 weeks. I'd rather drop down a few spots in the standings, and have him back for the Playoffs.
For someone that has an under .500 record though in H2H, or low in the Roto standings, I'd let him go and use the numbers from a mediocre healthy player instead. All depends where you're at.
I lived with Kevin Martin being gone for a while, and didn't struggle so I'm sure I can live with having Bynum there on my bench.

Dude drop him Tinsley has a lingering injury and won't be playing well anytime soon.

A worse version of Tinsley is still worth keeping. He has been huge for me this year.
