Keeper advice

Post#1 » by Ismality » Fri Feb 29, 2008 5:26 am

I'm in a 12-team, 8-players-per-team league, H2H, 9-cat, weekly sched. Positions are PG, SG, SF, PF, C, & 3 bench players. We keep 3 players for keepers and I'm not to sure who to keep. Any advice is welcome.

I'd probably go with Gay, Butler, & Jefferson, but I'm worried that Gay & Butler will both be listed only as SF next year. I've kept Yao for years, but now I'm sick of him being too injury-prone.

Brandon Roy
Rudy Gay
Caron Butler
Al Jefferson
Yao Ming (probably too injury-prone)

Id eliminate Roy right off the bat.

Now the remaining 4 is very tough to call. If Yao Ming could stay healthy id keep him easily because I think hes a top 10 player. However, him staying healthy is a question mark.

Id definitely keep Butler. And you know what id take Gay and Jefferson over Ming simply because of the injury history.

So Butler, Jefferson and Gay. Those are very good keepers.

You sir, are in a tough spot... None of those players have the kind of 'best at his position' quality that Yao Ming has. I dont think you can go wrong tabbing any of those players. Jefferson is a no-brainer. Maybe you pick Roy or Gay over Butler given Butler's injury, but both are excellent choices.

Now if you tab Yao Ming, maybe he comes back fully healthy at least for a little while, then you can trade him at the peak of his performance. And it's Yao Ming y'know? Guaranteed you can get something decent back. Flawed, maybe. But still something as good as Jefferson, Butler, Gay, and Roy. Hell, probably better.

That makes sense actually.

Keep Ming and than trade him at his peak.

id rather have Jefferson, Gay and Butler.

Jefferson is not that far off from being a top 20 maybe 15 guy imo.

keep Yao, Jefferson and Butler.

Trade Yao and Butler (should have traded him this year) next season.
