Is it time to pick Brand up?

Post#1 » by creative1 » Sat Mar 1, 2008 3:42 pm

I've seen some rumors that he's going to travel with the team on there 5 game road trip in the middle of March and is expected to get 15-20 minutes. I can see Brand recovering well from this injury and getting back to his form quickly, especially with Kaman injured.

I'm in a 10 team, H2H league with standard cats. I'm in 3rd place and will definitely make the playoffs. I have good bigs: D. Howard, Tyson Chandler, Wilcox, and Shaq.

I need the blocks and steals so I'm considering dropping TJ Ford for him. I could also part ways with Shaq pretty easily.

Time to pick him up?

I picked up Brand last week, and I think now is a perfect time to pick him up. He is jumping well off two feet and is doing full contact practice. Initially he will be restricted to 15-20 mins a game (perhaps for the 1st week), but as his conditioning gets better his minutes will increase.

I'm starting to have second thoughts. If Brand is only going to get 15-20 minutes, I think Shaq will put up better #'s. Phoenix is also in the playoff battle in the West where the Clips having nothing to prove. If Brand comes back mid-March then he'll only have a month's worth of games because the season is over mid-April right?

yea I'd do it immediately, I dropped JO for Brand without hesitation. If I were you I'd drop Shaq because he destroys your FT% and isn't offering you much in the other categories with the exception of boards. Brand on the other hand can give you what shaq does with better FT% and blocks even with reduced PT.

^agreed, I don't see the appeal of carrying shaq, in H2H or Roto

its like Dwight Howard, except with Mediocre stats, and worse FT shooting

I would drop TJ before Shaq with your team. There's no way youre winning FT% with Dwight Howard anyway. You're better off tanking FT%, shoring up your big men and tabbing Brand like you want to do.

on Yahoo news it says he can be back as early as Mid-March which is a very very good sign. He is taking part in full contact practice as some of you mentioned..

I am in first place in a 12 team roto league right now and I really think he would be a good investment..especially for those who need big guys..

How much do you guys think he is going to come back and produce? Is he worth dropping Childress for? I have a good bigs, and usually dominate boards. We do have 3 rebound cats though so might be good to get him so no one else does

What do you guys think?

if you can afford it, then do it. it's not a question if you are in the deeper leagues (like 10+ teams) he will definitely help you in the late runs like in the playoffs.
