Turnovers

For roto leagues do you like to use turnovers as a category? We used standard 8 cats last year and did not use turnovers. I tend not to like them b/c they unduly punish PGs and generally otherwise the stars who tend to dominate any team's offense. But maybe I'm wrong and they are some sort of good equalizer? I also saw the Yahoo writer's suggestion to instead scrap both TO and Assists and use Assist:Turnover ratio. Thoughts on that?

I'd just scrap TO, keep Assists and introduce the A/T ratio.

I'm not a big fan of TO either, I prefer to replace them with FTM.

I will never in my life play in a league without turnovers. Sure it's a negative stat, but so is FG%. So is FT%. It does 'punish' point guards sometimes, in the same way FT% punishes a big man and favors a guard. In the same way blocks favor bigs and 'punish' guards. You get the point.

I hate three pointers as it is. I don't think one cat should ever directly affect another. It's the same gripe I have with counting rebounds, then turning around and counting offensive rebounds as well. I feel the same about counting assits and A/T.

TO is an equalizer IMHO which is a must

Also, A/T ratio affects bigs, but TO affects each and every star player.

Well turnovers punishes players who have the ball in their hands a lot... But... It adds to some of the strategy of the league so I don't think it's necessarily an "evil" stat.
