Looking to Start new League with Salary Cap

Post#1 » by CoachK » Thu Sep 11, 2008 5:34 pm

Anyone interested in joining a league that will have a salary cap? Will use last years true salaries per player and have a cap. Must be under cap at all times during the season. If it goes well, will make it a keeper league.

If at least 10 people are interested I will start the league. There will be a 12 team limit to the league.

If your interested let me know below. Once enough players commit I will set the league up. I have the salaries for every player in the NBA last year in a database.

Pretty simple really I 'll send everyone a copy of the players salaries through email. You can draft who ever you want but 5 days before the season starts you must have your teams roster down to $63 mil. 12 player rosters. I did this with a league last year and we all had a ball.

Also will be head to head with rosters changes being daily.

Sounds like a pretty novel twist to the typical H-H format.

Yeah, is there any way to do it with this year's salaries? Those numbers should be available too, no?

I don't have them in a listing for this year. I do for last year. I have run a league like this for the past few years. Have one league running now as a keeper wanted to start another one. Doesn't seem like I'm going to get enough people interested. I'll wait for Yahoo to open up tell you guys were to go to sign up and hope I can get more interested in Yahoo's listings.

League is set up in Yahoo.
League name: NBADL
password: NBA

Instead of using last years salaries we will be using this years. Salaries can be found at nbadl.bravehost.com

I will not publish on Yahoo until Sunday morning giving everyone from here a chance to sign up first...

First come first serve.

Salary cap is $63 million.
Teams consist of 12 players, 7 starters, 5 bench.
You can draft any player you want regardless of salary.
Wednesday October 22 2008 salary must be at or under the cap.
Penalty for being over the cap, no stats for infraction day + one day.
Salaries are true salaries for 2008-2009 season to the best of my knowledge.
When players sign they will be added to the list.

Player salaries are available at nbadl.bravehost.com

Fantasy basketball is a ton of fun this way. Makes it very competitive. Have done one other league like this and it has been a keeper league for the past 3 seasons with prizes for 1st place. We can decide at the end of the year if we want to keep this going by making it a keeper league the following year.

Sounds great. Glad we have this year's salaries to close that rookie loophole.

We need the League ID# to join though, not the name.

One thing just occurred to me. The salary cap for a 30 team NBA league is $63 million, but we are only going to have 12 teams. Shouldn't it be higher?

Did it work out alright when you did it last year?

We still need you to give us the league ID so we can sign up. The league name will not work...Unless we get that, we can't sign up.

Joined.

But dude, what's up with the 3pt% and O-Reb categories? No need for those. Why not just a standard 9 cat league? The salary cap aspect already makes it interesting, don't need to screw around with the stat categories too.
