Kidd - Washed up?

I see cheat sheets and other rankings everywhere that has Jason Kidd around pick 40-50+. Experts are saying he is done and is too old and this is the year he falls off the face of fantasy ball (lil exaggeration).
I'm not buying it.
Kidd's approximate numbers after his trade to Dallas were:
34.9mpg, 9.9ppg, 1.2 3spg, 6.5rpg, 9.5apg, 2.1spg, 0.4bpg, 42.6%FG, 81.5%FT
Enough for top 15 for last 2 months of 07/08. (basketballmonster) TO's excluded.
With new coach (Carlisle) in town saying that Dallas are going to play a more up-tempo game, shouldn't this equate to similar stats if not better? Obviously I don't think top 10 is a chance, even top 15 is a stretch. But surely he is good for top 20-25?
Anyone else agree? or can someone give an argument as to why he will drop off outside top 30?

Well a lot of (I would even say most) leagues do include TOs as a category, and that's one that Kidd really hurts you in. So if the rankings include that, it could explain why he slips down into the 40s or 50s.
I'd still take him fairly high though.

I plan on picking up kidd, if your conerned about TO's i suggest you dont pick up any of the top 15 pgs. It comes with the terriroty when you handle a ball so much.
Take the rankings this year to your advantage. There are a lot of great players 50+ in most rankings.

He was taken 4th round in 10 team league, so he's kind of slipping.

IMO he is somewhere between 35-45 range.Far cry from his days as a top-20 pick but still a good 1st point guard especially if you build on his strengths on H2H.

Carlisle will know how to use Kidd effectively.
If you have Kidd as your Starting PG....then you may want to get another very solid Backup PG....but if he's your 2nd PG on your roster...then he would be worth it.

I think he's still a great fantasy player. Even just his assists are valuable--and while his rebounds dropped they're still great for a PG, and his TOs aren't really that bad for a high-assist PG either. And his steals in Dallas were at 2.1 per game, which is basically elite. Not to mention that his FG% shot up (still not that high, but decent), and even his blocks are good for a PG. His 3s are still decent and his points aren't spectacular, but they're not absolutely horrible either.

Paul, Wade and a healthy Arenas are the only guys clearly ahead of him. I have Nash about the same with Billups, baron, AI and Calderon a little lower. He's still a star.

His assist/TO ratio isnt that bad.
I mean, its on par with that of Nash and Deron.
Pretty much anyone floating around the 10apg mark is also gonna be floating around the 3TOg mark, even Chris Paul.

I don't plan on picking up Kidd because he has no upside and potential for a drop off. I don't like those kinds of players. All people are hoping for is he doesn't fall off like Shaq did last year. If I can't get Dwill, Nash, Paul, or Calderon I'll wait and pickup Tony Parker, Rajon Rondo or Devin Harris......
