Garcia vs Salmons

Post#1 » by Mikchek » Wed Oct 15, 2008 2:29 am

They have very similar stats with Garcia having more 3s and Blks and Salmons having more REB...who do you think will excel this year?

I'd say Garcia. His contributions are in more rare categories and brings a rather unique combination of stats(steals/blocks/3's/good fg% etc.)

that makes a lot of sense....those rare cats...do you think he will continue to produce this year though? they had similar minutes last year but they say salmons is gonna have a bump in minutes this year

Last year Garcia was ranked 86th overall despite playing 4,4 mpg less than Salmons.Salmons was ranked 104th.I'd say even if Garcia gets 5 minutes less than Salmons(Salmons about 35 mpg and Garcia about 30 mpg);he will still outplay Salmons fantasy wise.

Those rare cat contribution will mostly like continue as Kings did not add anyone that would potentially hurt Garcia in those areas.3's will be a plenty and blocks+steals combo will again wander around 1,8-2 region.

I'm very positive that Garcia will be able at least to replicate last year's numbers. And if he can get that ft% over 80%;he will enter into top-75 region.

Salmons was huge for me last year so I'm a bit biased but I think he will take over full time at SF this year and he was in the top 50 when he was starting last year. Garcia is a very underrated contributor though, those blocks from a swingman are key.

Nope,I'd still take Bibby over Garcia(especially if this is the league where you tank your fg%)

Bibby and Garcia are close in value, go for the cats you need. Salmons would need to have a massive season to match either of them.

Salmons by a hair. If you just compare their raw stats last year, it's Cisco easily IMO, but Salmons is a different player when he's starting. He'll be the more valuable player this year over all IMO, but it's also close enough to where Cisco would be the better choice in the right situation.

I agree. When Salmons starts, he's fantasy gold. But if your looking for the "safe" bet, Garcia is your man.
