Tweak or stay put?

Post#1 » by creative1 » Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:09 pm

I just drafted a team in 10 team H2H standard category league and I think I did pretty well. I feel like I'm solid in pretty much every category but I'm wondering if you see any weaknesses I can work on. Here's my team/draft:

1st: Amare Stoudemire PF,C
2nd: Deron Williams PG
3rd: Al Jefferson PF, C
4th: Paul Pierce SG, SF
5th: Hedo Turkoglu SG, SF
6th: Josh Howard SG, SF
7th: Andrew Bogut C
8th: Jason Terry PG, SG
9th: Luol Deng SG, SF
10th: Rajon Rondo PG
11th: Charlie Villanueva SF, PF
12th: Beno Udrih PG
13th: Rafer Alston PG
14th: Luke Ridnour PG
15th: Andray Blatche PF, C

I really don't see any categories I'm necessarily bad in other the TO's. I have:

-4 guys that shoot over 130 threes/yr
-4 guys that get over 100 blocks/yr
-5 PG's (one of which is a dominant assist producer (Deron) and all the other guys put up around 400/year)... not to mention Hedo gets PG-like assists
-my rebounds, scoring, and FG/FT% are all competitive with anyone in the league

I guess the only guys I'd consider dropping are Ridnour/Blatche. The only worthy players on the waiver are:

D. Fisher
F. Garcia
J. Posey
L. Kleiza

I would like to keep Blatche's blocks but Garcia also gets quite a few for being a wing. I don't necessarily need Ridnour's stats although I think he'll have a much better year in Milwaukee. Ridnour/Blatche could both have breakout years... are any of the available guys worth picking up over them?

Any other trades I need to make or holes I need to fill?

Thanks for your feedback.

Pretty good looking team.

Go get Garcia though, probably in favour of Ridnour. If you have time, you can always try a 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 trade, but if the other managers in your league have any sense, Garcia will be snatched up quickly (but I'm going to guess they don't....I don't know how Garcia even made it to waivers in a 150 player draft).

Grab Garcia now.
Both Garcia and Salmons will explode this year.

And your draft looks very solid overall.

I have consumed too many beer to be taken seriously right now, but your team looks pretty good to me. Amare, Jefferson & Bogut will flesh out PTS, REB, and BLK for you. Deron & Pierce are a good source for PTS & AST. Hedo is a plus on any roster. Deng, while lacking a 3-point shot, is a solid fantasy player. Charlie-V and Beno might be sources of unexpected fantasy strength, same goes for Luke Ridnour.

Pretty good draft creative1.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Garcia didn't make it to the waivers in the draft. Some idiot who is desperate for PG's dropped him for Russel Westbrook. Derek Fisher was on the wires so it baffles me why he would drop him for Westbrook.

I think I'm going to drop Blatche for Garcia, if I can get him. I was considering dropping Ridnour but I think is due for a good year. How could you not rack assists up with REdd's shot, Jefferson's penetration, and Bogut's arsenal in the paint. I'm expecting around 400 assits, 75 threes, 50+ steals, 80%+ FT % and some decent scoring. His only downsides are FG%, TO's and the fact that he'll share time with Lue and Sessions.

I like Blatche a lot and think he'll have a big year with the depleted Wizards. He should get big minutes behind Jamison and E. Thomas, maybe even taking his starting spot at some point. I'll miss his blocks but Garcia will make up for some of them while providing great scoring, 100+ threes, steals, rebounds and nice percentages with low turnovers.

Thanks again for all of the advice. I think I did a pretty good job drafting a solid contending team.
