If he'd accept, would you deal Gasol for Gay?

How badly do you see Bynum affecting Gasol?

Gasol averaged more Asts and a much higher FG%. Does everything else Rudy does and being Option 1 on his team make him worth it? Should I try to get this deal done?

18 team league, 10 roster spots
FG%, FTM, 3PTM, PTS, REB, AST, ST, BLK, TO

My roster:
Rose
Fernandez
Joe Johnson
LBJ
Gasol
JO
Nene
Ty Thomas
Turiaf - Needs to be cut for a waiver wire PG
Monta

No IR spots.

I'd keep Gasol, your center position is pretty thin. Rudy might give you similar stats, but he's not C-eligible which makes Gasol more valuable. You can get more than Rudy.

Jeez. Um. In terms of straight-up value, there's little doubt in my mind that Gay has the edge. He contributes in just about every category, and is only getting better. He'll also be the first-option on his team, whereas Gasol will be his team's third by mid-season.

But for me, it comes down to how trade-happy your league is. If you get Gay, you'll be dangerously thin at center; are you confident that you'll be able to pull off another trade to round out your roster? If so, pull the trigger...you're getting the better player. If not, stand-pat, b/c you can't afford to go without Gasol's boards and blocks for very long.

I'm a very trade aggressive Fantasy GM. I'm always looking to make a deal to improve my team and try to come up with creative ways. That said, I think it is very difficult overall to do trades for numerous reasons I could list.

I started another thread on here (Nene for Z). I just posted it. I think Gay could be had since his only big men are Tim Thomas, McDyess, and Shaq. He has Kobe, Pierce, Gordon, and Gay as his SG/SFs. Plus as of now, Gasol is ranked higher in Fantasy than Gay. A lot of poeple look at rankings and have that decide their trade. Thats why I'm thinking if I need to make a deal, I need to strike now. Within the next few days.

But if JO or Nene go down (my other big men), I'm doomed. My big men are Tyrus, JO, Nene, and Gasol. Two are injury prone. I'm thinking I can fix that somewhat doing Nene for Z (He needs a PF/C badly and doesn't like Z).

If I traded Gasol, I'd be thin if JO went down. I'm not sure man....I also wonder about the Bynum affect. This freaks me out. Fewer points/rebs, and Gasol is soft (mentally IMO), but he could have a high FG% and Asts.

Gasol's Yahoo! current ranking of 19 is laughable, man. He won't finish anywhere near that by the season's end. Whoever has Gay, on the other hand, won't be willing to trade him for God two months from now (ha...I go too far). Also, Gasol's never played next to a strong rebounder, and yet, has never cracked 10 rebs/gm in any season. He avg'd 7.8 last season You don't think Andrew Bynum's going to affect his boards? Gasol's played 66, 59, 80 and 56 games in the last four years, respectively. You don't want to be down one of your top players for 20 games out of the season in a H2H format with no IR slots.

But as I said, it comes down to whether you think you can do another trade. If Gay has a hot start, you could probably flip him for a better Center than Gasol.

I'd do both deals, Gay isn't a shabby rebounder or shotblocker himself. He gets about 6 boards and 1 blk a night, but he gives you way more in terms of 3s and steals. Pau's board numbers went down after he was traded to LA but his increase in FG% made up for it. Big Z is a proven commodity while there is a lot of questions surrounding Nene. Z will get you 10 boards, 1.5 blks a night along with solid percentages but theres no upside with him.

Thanks for the advice. I don't know if the deal will go through tonight. The kid who owns the team has exams this week. I have mine next lol. But I'm hoping the Yahoo ranking does not change this week, and he pulls the trigger. He needs Gasol more than I do as he has Shaq and McDyess on his team.

My next mission is to hope JO does well and trade him before he goes down. Buy low. Sell high.
