Billups/McDyess to Denver, Iverson to Detroit

Post#1 » by jorgo » Mon Nov 3, 2008 5:18 pm

Denver has traded All-Star guard Allen Iverson to Detroit in exchange for Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess, a league executive with knowledge of the talks said.

The deal is expected to be completed within the hour.

According to yahoo...

McDyess value should go up.
Billups will stay the same i'd think.
Iverson should stay about the same as well.

JR Smith owners should be happy IMO

Time to go hard after JR?

I offered Rudy Fernandez and another player for JR Smith and Anthony Carter.

Carter's minutes should be cut.

I'm expecting JR to be the starting SG and to get heavy minutes at SG. About 35 mpg. With Billups being more pass-first than AI, I expect him to get more shots off.

I don't expect my trade to go through. But if the guy looks at just rankings, I might have a shot.

With this trade, should I drop Nene for Maxiell? I feel Maxiell's fantasy potential is a lot higher than Amir Johnson

I picked up Amir over Maxiell but at this point taking a flyer on either one of those guys in a deeper league makes sense.

Amir has a bad habit of picking up quick-dumb fouls but he's a better shot blocker and rebounder than Maxiell the question is just whether he'll be on the court long enough to show that...

Right now it's basically a crapshoot though, Maxiell = safer pickup (I feel with Iverson in Detroit it makes more sense to start Max than Amir), Amir = higher risk-reward potential...

The biggest winner here in fantasy points is Carmelo Anthony, who will go to 28 points game again.

I wouldn't. I think Nene and the rest of the Denver offense should get a big boost stat-wise from AI leaving town. Nene is great for steals as a C, and should give over 1bpg along with good fg% and scoring and ~8rpg.

I think Amir has 2+ bpg potential. His fouling is a major problem though. I dunno if he'll play under control enough to get more than 20 mpg. Maxiell is a safer bet but doesn't have the upside in blocks that Amir has. I wouldn't drop anyone you can't afford to if you can hold off to see if McDyess is going to end up back in DET or not.

That is what I'm going to do. I was going after him before this deal too, so now it's gonna be even harder.

I see Billups rising in value. Carmelo will rise a little more scoring wise. McDyess will stay the same. Iverson goes down a bit in my opinion. Jason Maxiell will go up.

Everyone on Denver (excluding probably Anthony Carter) should see their value rise. Most significant changes should be to JR Smith and Melo.

Iverson becomes an anomally moving to Detroit, not quite sure what happens to his line there...

I agree with most of everyone's fantasy look at the trade. I think Denver's players should see a bump in production specifically in the scoring categories. I actually think Billups value could be the same maybe a bit better since he is headed to a more fast break team.

I think Detroit's players should see a little dip in numbers. Iverson is that type of player who needs the ball in his hands to be effective so who knows how many shots his teammates are going to get night in and night.
