Deron and Yao for CP3 & Tyson??

Post#1 » by Chubby Chaser » Sat Dec 6, 2008 5:19 am

Do I do it? I have CP3 and Tyson? Tyson has been a bum this year, so it kind of feels like I'm getting a two for one. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't trade CP3 and Tyson. It's a really risky trade and it assumes that 1) Deron will remain healthy (he is clearly not at this time, and we are 1/4 of the way through the season) and 2) That Yao will stay healthy, and although so far so good, I need not remind you that in his last 3 seasons he's played 57 games, 48 games, and 55 games.

Chris Paul meanwhile is having an absolutely dominant season. Chandler has obviously been a disappointment but I'd rather rely on him to turn his season around than rely on Yao and Deron to stay healthy and continue to produce all season. Worst case scenario if you stand pat: Yao and Deron have healthy seasons for someone elses team and you have the #1 player in the league.

Deron Williams will be fine this season, but with Yao you never know...

How is your team doing in steals right now? If your team is only doing okay or is bad in steals with you having CP3 then the difference between Paul and Williams isn't that great and if you accept the trade and Yao stays healthy you basically make out as a bandit...

I think ultimately you're going to have to decide whether or not to gamble. If Yao stays healthy you win big, if Yao gets hurt you lose.
