What is the value of Marion/Granger/Monta?

Post#1 » by theanimal23 » Mon Dec 8, 2008 7:14 am

I'm negotiating a deal. It's in its early phase, just feeling it out.

18 team league, FG%, FTM, 3PTM, PTS, REB, AST, ST, BLK, TO

Rose
Joe Johnson
Bibby
Ridnour
Monta (no IR spots)
LBJ
Tyrus
JO
Amare
Oden

Guy is interested in Amare. His Final Offer was Granger and Marion for Amare and Johnson. I'm not doing that. I landed Amare with this deal: Nene, Gasol, Fernandez for Amare, Bibby, Oden. But the deal I want to propose is Monta for Marion.

I miss Nene's defensive "presence". My guards are doing just fine. I get enough assists from my guards and Lebron. I am always on the border-line of winning 3s, but Monta does not provide any solution to that. FTM Made should be taken care of with LBJ and Amare. I believe this week I finally lose in it b/c the two stars did not have as many FTAs as I expected.

I was considering dropping Tyrus earlier. He kills me in everything but Steals and Blocks. And I cannot find a combination in an 18 team league that gives me his *combined* defensive stats. Marion could replace him. But if I keep Marion and Tyrus, I have a great defensive presence across my entire front-line. The guy who I would trade with has a surplus of defensive stats. Lacks offense (FTM and Points). Monta would solve that to an extent. I very well do think it will be me or him winning the title.

Would Monta for Marion be fair? Would he do it? Should I do it?

My worst categories are 3s (Avg), Stls (Avg), and TOs (Worst in the league). I was better defensive with Nene.

Thanks!

You should definitely do it. I think you're going to see that the offer will get rejected fairly quickly.

I'd rather have Marion than Monta if they were both healthy, and it's not close.

Monta is injured. This deal is ridiculously in your favor and I'd be upset if it went through on general principle.

The other owner agrees with you guys in that Marion > Monta. The difference in my thinking is that his team desperately needs offense. He would be a contending team if he got offense, a higher FG%, and a few more FTs out of someone. He has an excessive amount of defense.

The deal he offered me is:

Granger + Marion for Amare and Monta.

He would possibly do Granger + Camby for Amare and Monta.

Should I do it? Camby's health, while is not as a huge deal lately, has always worried me. That and his time-share.

FTMs is a category in my league. I should be fine with LBJ, but LBJ and Amare would seal that deal for me, along with Points and FG%.

He also suggested Marion for Joe Johnson.

I want to add D, but out of an 18 team league, I'm no worse than 5th or so in steals and blocks. So it's not as if I'm desperate. That said I've played without Monta the entire season and I'm in 1st place. Before landing Amare. And with. Amare's been having a somewhat off two weeks too since I got him.

What do you think of his proposed deals?

He has Rondo. But I don't think he adds Rondo into the deal, if I add a crappy player. I know he is in love with Amare. This is probably my best competition for a title.
