league votes trade review

Post#1 » by Anthrax » Thu Feb 26, 2009 4:12 am

Quick question, how does that sytem work? I'm commish in a 16 team league and a trade just went down where yao was shipped off for noah/turiaf. I'm seriously contemplating vetoing the deal myself, but I want to know if a trade requires 8 votes to have it overturned or is it 50% of the ppl who bothered to vote since there are a few inactive managers in my league.

No set rules. But the rule of thumb is that you try to get as many of your managers to vote then decide from there.

You can base your decision:

-on the number of for/against votes
-on the manager's opinions (e.g. make a post on the message board to discuss the trade)
-by yourself.

AFAIK

That trade is a easy veto. NO argument what so ever.
From my understanding, custom league is either a league vote system or a commish system. League vote is 1/3 of the manager vote against the trade. The commish system is where the commish makes the ultimate decision. Normally commish ask for the two involving parties to explain how the trade helps their team and make a decision based on that and his/her own judgment. After that he/she will make the final decision.

It's definitely 1/3 of the league needs to Vote against for the trade to be Vetoed. If you have inactive managers, it's a must to switch over to the commish system.

That deal should be vetoed no questions about it.

IMO you should have decided from the start on how the veto process will be handled but I guess the best way to go is let the gm's vote and if 50% of the gm's who bothered to vote, votes veto, then veto the deal.

(Exclude the two parties of the trade from the veto process )

"My name is my name" - Marlo Stanfield

Thanks for the feedback guys. For the record, I decided at the start of the year to review trades thru the yahoo league votes system. I've put out a call to all teams that are still participating to voice their opinions on the league msg board, if I get enough support then I will veto the deal .
