NBA Fantasy Writers Debate, Your Thoughts?? [Blog]

Bosh or D-12 in a Roto league?

RB: Chalk this up to my Toronto bias, but I firmly feel that Bosh is the better pick in roto leagues as Dwight Howard’s piss poor FT% makes him all the more detrimental to fantasy squads. Players like that have no place on my fantasy team, there are plenty of top ten rebounders who provide much more value based on ADP if I am chasing rebounds. Andris Biedrins is the name that first pops up in my head, followed by AJ (who’s FT% is bad, just not as bad) and Troy Murphy. I actually have Bosh ahead of D-12 in both my Roto and H2H rankings which is why I posed this question to my fellow writers.

MN: Forget Toronto bias, how about, “I-don’t-want-to-give-a-category-away-in-any-format,” bias? I can’t bring myself to use a 2nd or 3rd rounder on a guy that is going to punt an entire category for the rest of my team. Even if you were able to pick up, Nash and Calderon at best you would break even on FT%. If Superman ever figures out how to stop Shaqing it up at the charity stripe his value would jump 2 rounds even as a second rounder right now. As value if he was available in the 5th round I could pull the trigger (assuming my FT% was overly amped up with my first 4 selections.) To me there is no contest here, what Dwight will give you in, boards and blocks over Bosh he decimates in FT%. CB4 over D-12 hands down.

In a roto league there is no doubt about it that Bosh is a better player. It's almost impossible to win a roto league (9 cat) with Howard on your team which is why I avoid him in that format every single year.

The better topic of discussion is who would you take in a 9 cat roto: bosh, jefferson, gasol, or stoudemire and in what order
